My son is 3 months old now and I really need to get off my butt and lose some weight!!!  I put on 20kg with my first pregnancy and lost all but 5kgs when I got pregnant the second time.  I think I put on around 15 kgs this time around.  My weight when I got pregnant the first time was 68kg, I think I am sitting around 76 now, dont have any scales so cant check for sure lol.  Is it realistic to expect to get back to your pre preg weight??  I am thinking of doing jenny craig or weight watchers, something along those lines so I wont get lazy half way through!!  Is anyone else on a weight loss mission???

I know I will be!! Weight Watchers have a programme for breast feeding mothers so I'll be keen to hook onto that and of course plenty of walking!

I'm on weight watchers now- the online version and it is going well-ish. I found my own foibles, and have managed to get some ways to combat those, but don't know if the programme is actually working, or if I just have more motivation. would definiteily recommend getting some scales though. My scales say I've lost 8kg, but I don't feel like I have. they help my motivation though.

I started my first pregnancy at 68kgs...I'm not even going to mention where I am up to now, but it's getting close to double that. I've already told hubby that I'll be doing weight watchers (in person) once this bubs is out. I'm planning on starting up at around the six week check time on their lactation plan. I've looked at online, but I don't have the motivation to stick with it. At least with the meetings I'll have to front up and face the music/scales.

ooohhh this is something I have tried not to think of...but it is in the back of my mind, I have no idea how I am going to lose this weight since I am the worst most compulsive and emotional eater ever!i think so far i have put on around 15k...and there is more to go...
I was thinking of doign WW, but not sure when would be a realistic time to start that - a couple of weeks after baby is born maybe?

I'm going to go for the online option only because I know I can do it by myself...I once borrowed all my friends books and taught myself everything and lost close on 3 dress sizes!

I'd like to do meetings but cost is a factor too.

Does anyone know how much of the weight u put on during pregnancy u are likely to loose after the birth and while breastfeeding,..with normal excercise and healthy(ish) eating,..without having to "diet"?
Like, is it not possible to go back to normal without having to diet?

Thanks for all your replies, nice to know there are others in the same boat!

Kellz I lost weight straight after having both my boys(probably because I was too tired to remember to eat lol) but then put it back on again.  I guess your whole body has changed and I found it really hard to lose the weight around my middle.  I havent been successful at BF though but I am sure that will help you with the weight loss.

I also think I would be too lazy to do the online WW but actually getting organised and getting to the meetings......lol sounds like more excuses! James well done you are on your way! And Lizzle 8kgs that is a great loss!!

Perhaps we need an online weight loss support part to our forum?

Somewhere to encourage each other, exchange tips and recipes etc....

Sounds like a good idea Paws! That topic on healthy snacks was good the other day. Its easy to get bored with the healthy stuff u have..and to then go off track,..but fresh ideas always inspire me to be good!!

Good idea Paws - we could also have a virtual weigh in every week! That way we would be named and shamed (well sort of) and we have to account for how we did that week without having to pay for the meetings - good motivation to stick to it even when we dont feel like doing it... and we can also share information, recipes, tips etc...

I so second WW. I used my mums books leading up to my wedding and the 6 weeks before I got married I lost about 10kgs. I am so going to be using the books again affter I have this monster. I will have the pregnancy weight plus about 20 odd kgs to lose.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

i was going to ww before i got preggers as i wanted to loose abit before i got pregnant again....hehe that didn't work out!
anyway, i cannot recommend ww enough! i've done it a few times as my weight goes up very easily if i don't watch out. the most i lost was 13kgs. you really do need to go to the meetings though i've found as mentally, you feel stink if you havn't lost at the weigh in.
if you can't afford the weekly meetings though, maybe get the books (trademe?) and do it with a friend. competition is always a great motivator!!

to tone up your tummy i highly recommend pilates! you can get the dvd's off trademe for a good price. it really does work to flatten the belly and shrink bums and thighs hehe i sound like an infomercial!
i will be doing both once this bubs is out

I've got the books around here somewhere, went to WW myself once upon a time before I was pregnant, might even dig them out at some stage ! I'm pretty happy with my weight loss at the moment, although it's something I'm trying not to think a lot about right now. I think I was about 74/75kgs (and again trying to lose weight at the gym etc) when I found out, and went up to probably a little over 90kgs - and am presently sitting at 78kgs. Ultimately I'd like to lose another 10kgs and crack that 70kg mark, and reassess things from there. I think the idea of a support group / forum / thread on here would be great too.

I am keen! Can anyone give me a general run down on how many points the basic foods are and the weight of the food you are allowed. Also I am 80 kg so how many points I am allowed. I've got all the books but left them all back in NZ...doh!

Oh bugger I saw my ww book somewhere the other day but yeah I think its like 20 0r 22 points your allowed.
I would be in on a weight loss support thread thing. We could have a regular day for weigh ins and give each other ideas and support. I need to lose about 26kgs at least, could easily afford to lse 36kgs but I think 26 is more realistic. At the moment Im weighing in myself on Friday mornings and have lost 12kgs since the week I had Addison (that included babies weight aswell though) I have done ww and it does work but I was paying to just weigh in cos I couldnt stay for meetings cos I would have Kobe with me.
