Topic: First AF - warning TMI Posted: 26 October 2007 at 10:56am |
OK so I have finally got the witch back and I can't remember what it was like when I got her back after Andrew so I don't know if this is ok.
I got her back on Wednesday and since then it has been super heavy and clotty and still is (as in I had to take a trip to the supermarket just to get some more super tampons). I am changing tampons every hour (and thats the super ones) and they are soaked - and if I waited a minute or so I would of leaked . Is this ok to be like that first witch back after a baby??
I could feel something was happening in there a few weeks ago so I figured she was on her way. The last thing I need is for my endo to start playing up again like it did after I had Andrew - 9 months after having him I was in surgery to have it removed as it grew back something bad.

I got mine back a couple of weeks ago and pretty much couldn't leave the house and had to use tampons and towels and still had some leaks
I didn't have any large clots though and think I would be concerned about them.

I had an awful one like that after I had Ella.
Lots of clots and very heavy bleeding. I was soaking through super tampons within an hour.
My Dr told me it was quite normal, especially if its taken more than 6 months to come back, as its your body's way of cleaning out and getting back to normal.
She did tell me to come back if it got heavier or lasted more than 8 days, or if the pains get sharper or stabbing.
I hope it eases up soon Becks and make sure you keep up the iron intake while you're losing so much!

Mine was absolutely terrible. It was 7 weeks after Sam was born and I was at a wedding in Dargaville! I couldn't sit through the service and had to go to the toilets every 10 minutes. Sorry TMI but I would put a tampon in and would be soaked immediately and would fall out! Heaps of clots, non-stop bleeding, 24 hours a day for 10 days. I thought I was dying.
I told my stepmum about it afterwards as she's a nurse and she said 'Oh you should have gone to the DR, as they have drugs that can stop it!'
Oh well. But yeah, the first one is BAD!

and also take some vit c thru oranges or the likes to help with the uptake of iron unless your iron tabs have it added.
I hope it slows for you soon.

Mine was super heavy as well, I was so enjoying not having her around as well, but second one was alot better.
Another thing with Iron that I have been told is to stay clear of tea around the time as you are taking it as it can hinder the absorbtion. (not sure how much truth surrounds that theory but I suppose it seems to be working for me). Also the thompsons organic iron tablets (I think thats what they are called), are alot gentler on the system IYKWIM.

What does IYKWIM mean?
Yeah the tea reduces absorption by 60% and coffee by 50%, is recommended not to have around meal times or close to taking a supplement (most are suppose to be took at meal times) it is the tannine (sp?) that affects the absoption. Coke is bad as well cos of phosphates in it.

Yep I take them in the morning with a glass of Orange juice and then don't have anything that has milk or caffine in it for at least 2 hours.
