Leish, I'm so sorry that's the same thing that happened to me. I totally get your comment about feeling a little comfort at baby still being there as I knew that once I had the D&C it would all be real. It really is all down to individual in terms of bleeding. I hope your body heals well and your heart heals in time. Hugs!

Big hugs to you Leish, sorry to hear your sad news.
As others have said, the bleeding depends on every individual as a different case. I was told to expect bleeding for 2 weeks, but I think it lasted about 2 days quite heavy then light bleeding for just under a week. You're not meant to wear tampons during this time either, so stock up on some pads.
I had really bad cramping 2 or 3 mornings in a row at about 3am and it took lots of panadols and hot water bottles (with a very kind DH) to work through that pain. I had my D&C on the Friday and went back to work the next Wednesday. (I had taken from the Tuesday before my D&C off though as I had had bleeding before my 12w u/s).
The operation itself is over and done with in about 15 minutes, for me it was waiting for a few hours before, then the time spent in recovery and in the ward while the anestetic wore off that took the whole day up!
Good luck, and sending lots of hugs your way!

big hugs to you:( i had mine done 5 days after i found out bubs had died at 8 weeks 2 days (supposed to be 12 week scan) and i had a lot of bleeding at hospital and then an injection to stop that and nothing after that.. i was physically ok a few days later..
definitely a case by case thing as others left hospital way before me.. i nearly had to stay the night but was fine when i got home.. mentally obviously a different story:(

Hugs Leish! Hope today went as well as possible given the circumstances. Thinking of you, and sorry I missed this earlier, that bloody Kels wouldn't let me near my computer!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. It wasn't actually that bad yesterday. They said "you will start falling asleep now" and then I woke up and it was all done. I didn't have any pains and really minimal bleeding. I think it might be all finished already. The staff at Wellington Hospital were really wonderful too.

Glad everything went as well as possible Leish. I found the bleeding didn't last long afterwards, it was more just spotting for a couple of days then nothing.
