My boobs have shut up shop for expressing so I was thinking of using formula to make up baby rice and other solids instead of water. I want to use formula because I have seen some ads for it and they say they have stuff to help the normal tummy bacteria and Caprece always seems to have thrush. So does anyone know what brand of formula, if any has that stuff and will it help with thrush (mouth and bum).

Thanks

I didn't think it was a good idea to give young ones anything dairy until they were a bit older because of allergies etc

RACHANDJACK - I'm also having what appears to be a terrible time with thrush. Its driving me CRAZY!

I've been applying cream to my nipples for a week and had stopped (didn't want to overdose)....but think I should continue for another 7 days to BE SURE its gone.

Also putting cream on baby's bottom (when I remember!) and drops in her mouth.

She constantly fusses at the breast while feeding and I'm just about EXHAUSTED at the end of the feed from trying to hold her on to stop her from breaking her latch.

Any tips you could spare would be really appreciated. :)

maybe ask plunket or a pharmacist you might find something that works
or maybe try novalac (sp) they sell them in pharmacies they have something for every baby.
i tried yoghurt on haleigh at 7months and wasnt the best idea (baby yoghurt) she was sick for 3days.

Salifer - I have no real advice since i'm still struggling with it now but things I have been told is not to leave wet breast pads on and eat heaps of yoghurt.

What cream have you got for her bum? I find putting micreme on and then leaving it for about 5-10 mins and then putting zinc and castor oil over top clears it up quite fast. Then keep the zinc and castor oil up at every change and don't let her sit with a wet or dirty nappy for too long. I find if I forget the cream for one nappy change it comes back. The doctor just gave me some other cream called pumafucort or something like that and that has also been doing trick for her bum.

I'm not sure about the fussing at the breast thing but Caprece had terrible colic which I suspect was because of her tummy bacteria. She would feed well during the day but at night she would just scream and nothing would help her. In the end I just started giving her to my dp so I could have a wee rest and feed her every now and then. Have you mentioned the fussing to your midwife? she may have reflux or something as well thats causing her to be in pain.

Good luck and if you need any other tips I'm happy to help.

RACH&JACK yes I've been using MICREME, seems to be getting rid of the spots. I've been a bit slack the last day and should continue to be thorough and use it but just so darn busy I get distracted.

I do think Ella has a bit of reflux, spills a bit and can get cranky for what seems like no reason but now that I"ve realised it might be reflux I've started to keep her upright as often as possible and it seems to stop the crying.

Never knew how hard this mummie stuff was going to be! THanks for your tips/help. :)
