Topic: It was 5.03am... Posted: 12 December 2007 at 8:37am |
Not a creature was stiring... Not even a mouse..
Ok so maybe the mouse didn't get the memo..
This is how I was awoken this morning..
DH: "psst I can hear a noise.."
Me: "ummmm"
DH: "There is a noise in the laundry.."
Me: no response..
DH gets up..
DH: "psssst Bee, are you awake??? I've found a mouse..."
Me: No response (I figure if i stay asleep he can deal with it..)
DH: " There is a mouse....."
Me: still no response
DH: resorts to turining on the lights
Me: grumble grumble about DH turning on the lights...
I get up and go to the laundry.
DH: " The mouse is hiding behind that (points to a collection of paintbrushes) What do I do??"
UMM HELLOOOOO aren't you the man in this house... why are you asking me!!!!
Me: " Catch it...."
DH: " What should I use"
Me: *sigh* A plastic container... get an iceream container.. actually make that two..
I guard the door while DH runs off to get two containers.
He returns bearing ONE container, which is not an ice cream container, I am too tired to care, it will do...
DH enters the laundry to catch the wild, dangerous mouse...
Much squealing and jumping around like a girl later....
The mouse is still loose.....in the laundry tub..
Enter She-Ra (read ME!!!)..
I calmy walk to the laundry tub, the mouse is scrabbling around.. He looks me in the eye, I look him in the eye... There is no squealing, or scrabbling (From me, can't say the same about the mouse..)
I catch the bugger....
DH: " did you get it??" he asks from the hallway door...
me: yes...see..? *shows container with mouse..
DH: that is not a mouse... it is a rat...*DH shrinks away from container*
Me: Whatever, it is a mouse... *Thinks DH is a dork..*
DH: Well it is a very large mouse..
DH: How do we kill it..
*Again why are we asking me...????*
DH: Freeze it...
Me: No I am not having that in my freezer..
Me: Why dont you bash it over the head seeing as you are such a "hunter" and caught the bloody thing.."
Enter cat... eyes "Special treat" his mother has provided....
The mouse is currently in the container, under a rather large garden pot, with rat bait... I am so not dealing with the dead body..
Will probably have to tho, seeing as my husband is a GIRL!!!

Thank you. I woke up in a foul mood this morning and this has made my day. I'm finally smiling - shame dh has gone to work and dd to school so they can't appreciate the new improved Mum. Hehe.
Poor wee mousie. Is your cat giving you dirty looks for not letting him/her have some fun?

LOL Bee!!! Go you!
I'm so glad my husband is not afraid of rodents. I fall into the screaming and leaping around category

Oh dear, my cats have just bought in a wee sparrow that is looking much the worse for wear. Cam 'rescued it' then demanded I save it. Against my better judgement (I think it would've been fairer to leave the cats to it by this stage) I have locked the cats in and left the poor wee thing outside to its fate .
Hehe at your posh cat. Is he a pedigree? Our two devons are def not posh and can do an amazing amount of damage to a bird/mouse/cicada....
