Topic: My new man Posted: 22 January 2008 at 1:02pm |
So after months of breaking up, making up, moving out, getting back together only to break up again and again, I finally called it quits with Sam's dad.
He pressured me and pressured me to move out with Sam who was then 4 months old, because he needed space and didn't think we had a future. So I did, I moved out, I found my own place, I pay my own bills and I do my own thing.
Five weeks after I moved out he decided that he really did want to be with me and that I should give up my flat and get my bond back because he could really do with the money!! Err no!! He wanted to still be together which was not really ok for me because who wants to be with someone who comes over for half an hour to play with the baby and then go home again. And he wouldn't stay the night here so I was forever packing up all of Sam's overnight stuff and having to walk around there to stay the night.
Well a couple of weeks ago I had the worst stomach bug ever, Sam was just getting over it, but I was really bad. I was vomitting and all the rest and running off to the toilet every five minutes. Sam's dad slept in till after lunch time, got up and lay down on the couch and left Sam to crawl around and get into everything, and his place isn't exactly baby friendly. Anyway, I had to do everything, I was tired and sick and he did nothing, so I suggested we go to the mall and get a drink, thinking that maybe it would make me feel better. It didn't, I was really unwell so I asked if we could go home. Well. He got sh*tty and annoyed with me (wtf?!) and literally took me back to my place, dumped me on the doorstep with the baby and then took off. Nevermind that all of Sam's stuff was around at his place (bottles, formula, wipes). My neighbour actually came out and took Sam into her place so that I could go and vomit and have a drink of water. She wanted to yell at him too! He eventually dropped everything off but didn't even talk to Sam or say goodbye to him. At this stage I said to him 'This is it, I told you if it came to this again, it would be the LAST time', and he wouldn't look at me or speak to me, then he proceeded to ignore me for EIGHT days straight! No calls, no texts, didn't ask after Sam, didn't bother to see if I was ok. I tried to get hold of him in the beginning of the eight days, but he totally ignored me so I assumed it was over.
Anyway, he showed up eight days later, unannounced, no text beforehand only to find that my friend Gavin was here. He stormed off, didn't even come in and see Sam.
So it's finally over. I feel so free
And I've pretty much fallen in love with my friend Gavin, who is the nicest, sweetest, kindest guy I've ever met. He treats me like a person rather than something he's stepped in. And this is a person who actually wants to get married and have a family, rather than someone who hates marriage and never wanted kids. My whole family likes him and he is so good with Sam too.

Oh that's great that you have called it off with Sam's dad. Didn't sound particularly healthy for any of you.
All the very best for your relationship with your new man - he sounds absolutely lovely

Yay for you (and Gavin)! It's so annoying how 'gorwn men' can act like such children and expect you to give them what they want

Good on you! At least you know you tried and he was still a jerk so obviously you're better off without him. I hope everything goes well for you from now on
