I was studying full time right thru pregnancy and when Maya was first born, she started daycare at about 18 weeks. It was hard to start with, I would imagine her dying or having an accident at daycare and feel soooo guilty. Some days I just couldn't bear to leave her, but I had to.
Now she is nearly 3 and still at the same daycare (I work fulltime) and she absolutely loves it.
The best advice I can give is to not put too much pressure on yourself to do everything. For the first few months, the housework got done very occasionally to say the least, now that I have the extra $$$ I hired a cleaner so that I don't have to spend the precious few hours I have at home cleaning etc.
Also, a contingency plan is crucial - if your childcare falls thru, if bubs gets sick etc. how will your work respond? In my experience employers are really understanding if you are up front with them from day one about what your needs are.
I wrote an article on returning to work for OHbaby!, you can find it
here. Also, keep an eye out over the next month or so, I am interviewing working Mum's about what works/doesn't work for them, to put together a profile of tips etc.
Hope this helps
