Topic: Endo coping/management Posted: 19 April 2008 at 8:53pm |
So what are some of the things that work for you? I've been doing things like:
cutting gluten out (helps with #2's but not with any endo symptoms)
One part of that was to take peanuts and banana chips/dried apricots to work for morning/afternoon tea to avoid gluten options at work
adding fibre (ditto)
Taking salad to work with a can of fish, for lunch - so easy and cheap!
wearing skirts to work (so when I bloat, I can just put it on a different place rather than with trousers when I'd just be so uncomfy!)
I'm going to buy myself a cross-over cardy for work in winter so I don't feel so self-conscious over my "preggy (bloated) bump"
What else?

I know it is hard to keep motivated with it(well it is for me) but I find exercise makes a HUGE difference for me. Also drinking lots of water.

Have you seen the endometriosis diet? There's a wealth of information including the endo diet on this website.

OhBaby actually sell a really good book on endo in their online store - it would be worth looking at buying. I did a review on it ages ago - have a read, and see what you think.

Mummy_becks if you're going to be trying to get pregnant I'd probably endeavour to do stuff to minimise it as much as possible, such as endo diet, exercise etc. If you're one of the 'lucky' ones who doesn't have it affect their fertility, that mightn't be such a big deal for you though.

Yep I am one of those "lucky" ones Robyn, don't know how or why coz I have endo bad and i'm blessed with PCOS as well.
My gyne and me have tried alsorts of things to help me and other than going on a very expensive pill theres nothing I can do , but wait till I can have a hystorectomy.

That stinks! I was the opposite to you, had very little indication I had it, but it affected my fertility.

I can tell right now that I am going through ov as I can feel the damn egg moving along - every now and then I get a real stab of pain when it hits a bad spot of endo. I'm just counting down till I can have it all removed and not have to worry about AV anymore or pain with ov.

Endo only actually affects fertility in around 20% of endo sufferers.

Becks would you know if getting pg would affect my surgery time at all? For example, say we got pg this month and then I got a letter saying I was to have an op in 6mos. Would I be able to call them and reschedule for say, 12mos away? Given that I'm on public not private?

Yep quite possibly. I have heard that if you do go off the list because you are pg then you have to go back to the beginning again.
