Topic: The bloods are back... Posted: 28 February 2006 at 12:39pm |
And I am definitely pregnant! The hCG level was 253 which is awesome for how far along I am ,now have to wait till tomorrow to have another one and make sure they are rising. But I do feel more confident about this pregnancy.
Just a question tho - am having some achy pain on my right hand side, right about my hip bone. Has anyone else experienced this or know what it means? Also my lower back on the same side. I think both could be related.

YAY on the good result from the bloods, Emma!
As far as the aches go, I had a lot of lower back and hip area pain with Josiah, especially in the early stages... I always assumed it was pinched nerves as my body prepared to carry a baby... might not be, but that was my guess.

Sounding good so far!!
I've also had a lot of twangs and achy sort of feelings...I've understood it's just the muscles all stretching etc...
How far along are you?

i went to the dr at 5 weeks because i had achey pains in my pelvis and back. it was quite similar to period pain but like you mostly on one side. she told me not to worry, that it was all the ligaments stretching etc and that women often have more aches and pains with subsequent pregnancies because the muscles have all been stretched before. she told me to come straight in if it became severe or i started bleeding. hope this helps emma

Thanks CaraMel. I guess I am just so nervous after last time, and being paranoid I automatically start thinking that pain on one side = ectopic. I am such a nutter!
Thanks for all the congrats ladies!

PS. Shelley, your doc would have done an hCG count to confirm pregnancy, but they wouldn't neccesarily give you the numbers unless you ask. I have no idea what mine were with Maya.
The only reason it is a big deal for me is because of my recent m/c - my numbers were low and slow to rise with that pregnancy. The big thing is making sure the numbers double every couple of days. If you don't have a history of m/c most docs won't bother with a second hCG unless you have bleeding etc., but you can request one.
My advice - don't bother. It will only make you more stressed. My levels last time were low and I stressed. Now they're high and I stress. If I didn't know what they were, and know as much about pregnancy from my research for OHbaby! I would have a much more relaxed pregnancy!

Thank you so much for that Emma. I have had no bleeding what so ever, so no need to worry then. I am so sorry to hear about your recent miscarriage.

Awesome news Emma! the aches sound pretty normal to me. I had alot of pains around those areas the second time and the midwife told me very normal to get more pain with second pregnancy.

Hey Marlene!! I wondered the same thing 'cause I (at last count) had really high hCG, but for twins it has to be really high. As in more than double! I don't think mine was that high but find out tomorrow!! I think it is just a good sign!
And YAY Emma again for your pregnancy, don't worry too much about aches and pains, I am the same but I think we are just super paranoid!
