Topic: maternity pads Posted: 04 March 2006 at 11:23am |
Just wondering what the best brand of maternity pads are and about how many i will need, i have noticed that they only seem to come in packs of 7 or 10 which is damned stupid if you ask me as some women would probably go through that in just over a day.

I actually one bled for two weeks. i bought four packets and still have a few leftover i think. I bled heavily only for about four days and after that it was pretty light. I used Libra and Pams. Both were okay, but sometimes the ones with wings come udone and stick to you....ouch

I found the Stayfree maternity ones best for the first few days - nice big thick ones, esp good I think if you are a bit sore down there. Then libra goodnights (not ultra thins), then just u/thin goodnights or normal pads.

I used Libra goodnights for the first couple of weeks and then switched to just normal regular pads and then Liners as it got less and less. Not sure how many you will need but the goodnight ones are always handy to have around when your period comes back to use at nightime. Actually I even used them during the day during my first period because it was reasonably heavy and I felt more comfortable.

first time around i had a post partum heamorrhage and bleed reasonably heavy for a while i cant remember what brand i used (i did get some from the hospital and used them for a while, but didnt like them as they didnt have wings) i bleed for almost 9 weeks i think (long time) but by the end i was only wearing light flow pads. second time i hardly bleed (mind you i was given drugs to make my uterus contract quickly to prevent another heamorrhage) was less way than a month. but i cant be much help because i cant remember the kind i preferred and how many etc.... get a few packs and then buy more if needed.....

I was like Aimee - used thew stayfree ultra (matress size ) the first few days and then moved on to Libra Goodnights which were great! Also see if your midwife might give you some from the hospital... I got 2 packs and she also gave me something to lie in my bed under me in case I had leaks...

I bought j&j Maternity Pads (I think)...It comes in a pink pack of 10. They were great. very thin and yet long and no leaks....I bled for about 40 days however only 2 weeks was like a medium period and the rest was spoting.....
I bought 3 packs and have nothing left over.

I bled for about 6 weeks but started using tampons about 2 weeks after. I absolutely hate pads.
Used the lovely surfboard sized ones from the hosp for as long as poss (as I hated paying money for pads that I would throw away within the hour!) It tends to level off quite fast so don't go overboard on the maternity, but maybe some of the lesser "thickness" pads.
