Gah, I do owe the taxman money about $1500. I've ranted in the general forum so I won't subject you to it in here too. I think I'm going to need to do some super budgeting.

Ohhh that sucks! I actually just got a payout from them for almost a grand so I was stoked. DH got one as well .. means we can finish pink batts in the ceiling and some other jobs that need doing around the house.
We are only waiting because of medical crap.

Wow that's a big payback Mrs Mojo!
I worked out a little while ago that we'll get about $16 from WFF. Hardly seems worth it really, but better than nothing I guess.
Unfortunately I'll be going back to work part-time after a few months - we won't be able to pay the mortgage we will have otherwise!
Does anyone know whether home care or day care is cheeper/better option for little ones?

I think it ranges from about $45 - $90 per day depending on where they're sent. We haven't had to put Michaela in care (I was SAHM, then DH was SAHD now we tag team - I work days and DH works nights and whoever's home looks after Michaela)

There is no difference where I am (such a small place thou it is really cheap), but when we were in Palmy a full day for Josh (8-5) was $45 a day, and for Andrew it wsa $35 a day.

Hrmm, if we stay on the same incomes that we are on now (which is unlikely) we would be entitled to $9 a week. I told DF that I think we would register for WFF, but get a payment once a year instead of weekly - makes life so much easier without having to estimate income all the time, particularly as we don't know who will be working where.

No matter what you are entitled to for WFF, it is worth it. Even a sissy amount of $10 a week adds up to $40 a month, thats most of the phone bill paid for you ya know?

Yeah true Stacey, I think it's more worry that if our income changes (and DFs is VERY hard to predict as he gets random payrises and his overtime varies from week to week - anywhere from 2 to 14 hours - as is mine, as I get a payrise mid-financial year) then at the end of the year, we would end up owing. So for us, better to go for the end of year.

I'm toying with joining this thread. We haven't set a date yet - only that it can't be until at least next year, for various, completely inflexible reasons (like, its hard to BD when you are 14000 kms apart). Plus we are still feeling a bit like MrsMojo... nervous... excited... nervous... excited...
I also have the sensible side saying wait, and that irrational side saying, I want it now
I'm a bit worried that joining this thread will be fueling that irrational side... but what the hell... Hi, I'm rhick and I am clucky

Rhick - TTC #1 sometime in 2009
DH and I had a super quick D&M this afternoon (the only kind you can have when only see each other for a few mins per day) and we've decided to put off TTC until December It's still exciting...it's only 3 more months to wait but not quite as close as I'd like it to be.
The deciding factor was that although it would be feasible if we got preg in Sep (I could take loan holidays because they'll be paid well in advance) I'd have to return to work fairly early to finish paying off bills and I really don't want to do that. I want to be debt free when baby arrives so I have no added pressure and I don't want to stress about money while I'm pregnant. So, there it is. It's December for us.
