Topic: Tattoos..?? Posted: 05 August 2008 at 3:06pm |
DH was desperate to get a tattoo (his first) of our baby girl's name when she is born.
I dont particularly mind whether he gets one or not, though it does make me happy and kinda proud that he feels enough love to mark his body with our baby's name, after all it is there forever.
Does anyone have any experience with tattoo's concerning children? Any regrets??

I'd like to get a tattoo that somehow represents my daughter but so far I haven't decided exactly what I want...
I think it's a great idea and bugger what other people think! If thats what he wants, then he should go ahead and get it - good on him!

I think its a lovely idea, I think your DH shouldn't worry about what others think and just do it if its what he wants to do.

I have one on my foot, a hibiscus flower with my sons name under it. (my boy is half samoan)
I have always loved the flower and wanted something special for my son.
My DH has the outside of his calf designed with our sons name in the middle, it is all island designs as he feels strongly about his heritage. (imagine if we have a few kids, we are going to run out of room lol)
For me, my family have always HATED with a passion tattoo's. I have always loved them. It seemed right to do it and certainly do not regret getting it done.
I have had so many lovely comments from people, even strangers.

I've got six tattoos (I think?) and three of them are my kids names - I have DSD's name with some flowers on my left breast, Maya's name, date ofbirth and newborn handprint on my right arm and the gremlins names and date of birth on my left arm. No idea where i'm going to put CHiara's name!

I think it's a great idea...I was thinking of incorporating Maddie's name into my tattoo but then someone pointed out it looks like an "M" in the middle of it anyway!

I have seven tattoo's, and one on my right upper shoulder of my DD's name:
My mum has never been a big fan of tattoos but I think by the time I got around to #7 she didn't mind too much.
I am going to have something done to represent my angel baby next, I think, as well as for my uncle that passed away recently.
I'm also not too fussed what people think of me having tatts, that's their problem not mine!

DH is getting Jack's and #2's names on his heart. He already has sleeves (tribal) and another one. We are going to design one that incorporate all of our initials and I will get it in my bikini area. I wouldn't look good with a tattoo in a place you can see, I want it to be just for us. Plus I'm a teacher so its not a good look.

i have 2 tattoos and DH has 1......i wanted to get jacks name put somewhere but decided to wait until we'd had all our kids so i could do something special 'all in one' IYKWIM
apparently we are finished having kids (i'm not so sure) so will start thinking of something to get soon
you either love them or you hate them, but at the end of the day, it's your body (well DP's) and if wants to do it, then he should

A friend of mine got a photo of his duaghter made into a portrait and the tattoo artisit put that on his arm - its really cool.

DH has DD's name down his arm. I love it to bits. I kind of wish I could get something like that but its just not very corporate (for where I work anyways).

I think it's a great idea! And like so many people have said, it's his body so he should do whatever he feels comfortable with. Plus your child is always your child no matter what so it's not exactly risky (like getting your partner's name could be, not saying you might break up but YKWIM)... and there's always places you can get them that no-one else needs to know about
DH has one planned for his back that's a celtic cross which will (eventually) incorporate all our kids names, just trying to figure out how best to do that when we don't know how many kids we'll have! emz - i love your idea of a design with all your initials!
I'm keen to do something as well (I already have three) but will probably have something small and individual for each child.
