Topic: Allergic reaction? Posted: 17 August 2008 at 9:40pm |
Has anyone heard of babies/children/people reacting to Lemnis Fatty Cream??? I'm starting to wonder if this could be a possibility with Rohann, due to ongoing rash (and now hives) issues. I've searched the net to see if anyone has complained of this but couldn't find anything.

It could quite possible be, is there an ingredient list on the pottle??? I would have a read through those to see if you can pin point it.

I react to it
It is due to the very high percentage of liquid paraffin (mineral oil) and solid paraffin in it (paraffin and mineral oil is a by-product of the oil industry). I react to anything with that stuff in it.
So I am afraid it is possible.
Rohann maybe reacting to the preservatives in it.
I also read on the MedSafe data sheet that it should not be used for more than 3 weeks on babies and children under the age of four. Here is the link to the datasheet: data sheet

Hannah broke out in eczema last week. The pharmacist I spoke to said to slap some aqeuous cream on it. So I did and it made is a million times worse (now she's got paper thin skin thanks to the hydrocortisone cream I really didn't want to have to resort to ). That has parrafin in it, and petroleum jelly, so I'd say the fatty cream is the same.

Thanks lady_aset, I'd seen the medsafe info thingy, we've been very careful with the hydrocortisone, and only use it when bad. But she seems to be re-acting to even the plain Lemnis that has no hydrocortisone in it. Do you react to aqeuous cream aswell, due to that having liquid paraffin in it too? As we've been using that as a soap in the bath and now using it has a moisturiser to see if eliminating the lemnis helps (though she really needs a much heavier emollient as her skin is super dry).
The excema bites doesn't it Charlie, at least that isn't too bad with Rohann at the moment just this weird rash thing. We've been referred to a paed/dermatologist but we got a letter saying she would be seen within 5 months (!!) but we are going to go private as we're not prepared to wait that long.

I got the best cream from the dr when Josh had wicked bad dry skin. I will try and find a tube for you and give you them (so long as it doesn't have that stuff in it).

Aw poor Rohann. In the bath try alpha keri oil instead it worked a treat on Spencer. You can just buy it from pharmacy for not very much (I don't know if its petroleum based though so would pay to check). Or there is pine tarsol that can also go in the bath, is very stinky though, but i'm pretty sure that isn't petroluem based.

Yes, I do react to the aqueous cream, due to the liquid paraffin. I have to check all stuff that I put on my skin that it does not contain liquid paraffin, mineral oil, petroleum or paraffin in it, as I react very badly to it. I am also allergic to the preservatives they use as well, especially the benzoates.
If you are willing to part with $30 for a jar of the stuff, I would highly recommend the Triology Everything Balm if you need something that is extra moisturising. It does last for a while, and is the only stuff I use to moisturise my body with. It only contains natural products, and I know friends who use it for nappy rash as well.
