Can i ask you ladies a question - this evening, we went to our new place, which we had only seen once and agreed that we wanted it. It was a bit different to how we had remembered it - namely the kids rooms are smaller than we had thought - not tiny, but definately smaller than the one HUGE room that paris currently has, so a little bummed about that.

But seriously - how do you feel when you move house - i am just starting to feel a little sad, i mean i am realising that this has been our home, for 4 years, and this is where our babies were conceived, and where we brought them home to, and where paris has grown up.. it's kinda sad to leave - i almost don't want to.

is this normal - or does everyone else usually feel great about their new house once they get to it.
I mean tonight, i just got back here after being at the new place and it was like "THIS is our home" not the other place. it's weird and it's worrying me a little.

I felt totally the same. And also when you have a look at a house and its furnished once the stuff has gone you see things you didnt notice before and the rooms look smaller etc plus its not your HOME yet, its jsut a house that someone else has left thier print on. Give it a bit of time and once you get your furniture in there you will feel better. I hated leaving the house we conceived and brought Kobe home to but then there are going to be heaps of things like that through his life (putting the new baby into his cot is going to be hard for me) I guess its just a natural feeling.

I feel the opposite. We had jake (mum's house), six weeks (sydney) eight weeks (japan) one year (syndey) two weeks later (mum's) and now 18months (gisborne), i really want a more stable life!@ Wher i can put Jake's pictures on the wall, and we can relax and live in our OWN place, rather than other peoples. Can't wait!

I felt the way you do, Janine, after I moved down here. I'd moved into our old place a month before Nathaniel and I got married, it was the first "home" Kiya and I had really had... Josiah was conceived and brought home there. It was a little hard at first, but once we were unpacked and had finished rearranging the furniture, this place began to feel like a home to us.

As you know Janine, we lived with my MIL so I could not wait to get out of there. And it was even more exciting because I knew I am moving in to my own house. But I can see where you are coming from.....My hubby found it hard to move as he grew up in that house and had allot of memories there......Dont know what to say, but once you all settle in you will feel like the new place is your home.....????

I feel the same Janine. We have just moved from Australia and before that have had two different 'homes' in Brisabane CBD while the girls were young. Each time I do feel sad, as each place holds so many memories (where the girls were conceived etc) ...... but on the other hand each move has involved positive aspects so try to remind myself of these often.

It is funny, I still now refer to Brisabane as home and feel like we are on a 12 month holiday here, even though this is our new home. I guess for me these things take time

i think it is normal to feel that way, when we moved into our house last year i was stoked at having a lovely proper house to live in as opposed to our grotty flat but a little sad at leaving behind the place where all of ella's firsts had happened. i spoke to the woman who had owned the new house before us and she said she'd had a little cry that morning after realising she'd brought all 3 of her babies home to this house and all of their family memories were made here. she said their new home suddenly seemed wrong and she couldn't imagine her family there but this house was too small for them now so they had to move on. is that a little like what you're feeling?

We haven't even moved yet but I'm having those feelings too ! We fell in love with our new house so to speak, and even though I love this house to bits too and it has so many memories, it's too big and would cost us more in the long run It's probably part of why we've ended up really slacking off with our packing *sigh*

yep that's exactly how i am feeling, and all of the event of the past 24 hours have really not helped me to settle in. i told mike last night that ihated the house - i don't hate the house as such i spose - just everything has gone wrong.

If you read my other post you'll see what i mean. It's called MOVING HOUSE SUCKS. I will say no more.
