Topic: Baby Factory - rude and expensive Posted: 05 November 2008 at 2:44pm |
Hey ladies, my mum just had a terrible experience with Baby factory and I just wanted to pass it on becuase I am so angry!
My friend up north is having massive feeding issues with her number 2 so I sent her up my Avent breastpump but I couldn't find the silicone petal massager and another part so I emailed avent and they said I could get a replacement frm Baby factory or Baby city. As I am in Waimate I emailled them both and only Baby City got back to me and were great and said the total cost was just under $20. My mum is in Dunedin today so I asked her to go and get them. She made a mistake and went to Baby Factory. And they were so rude. She realised that she had made a mistake and as she was running out of time decided just to get the parts there, they were $50 - $25 each!!! Along with that she said the sales assistant was really abrupt and rude so she left.
She found baby city and they were great and $20 later I have both parts. How on earth can Baby factory justify the difference in cost? The sales person said it was because of GST and delivery!
Sorry just wanted to vent, this is not how to win customers, mum won't go back and she is a bit of a spender on the grandkids!

I also hate the service that I get at the Baby Factory in Dunedin. They have never been particularly helpful to me.

I totally agree with your comment, we have never had good service at baby factory, there always seems to be alot of shop assistants in there and no-one ever comes to help they all seem to stand around chatting to one another.
When we bought Elle's car seat we actually bought it from baby city, at $50 more (baby factory had it on special), only because baby city were such great service and sooo helpful!! Lots of great things to say about baby city, and not really anything nice to say about baby factory.

Oh what a shame....I think you and your mum should write a letter stating your experience as I have found AKL BF quite good and helpful (as are BC). It always pays to shop around but there is no excuse for the difference in price.
I think BF management would like to know that Dunedin BF has a customer service issue!

The owners of Baby Factory are actually my MIL and FIL's best friends!!
I will absolutely be passing this on to them. They are lovely people and need to know that this is happening in their business!

We go to BF in Sylvia Park for a lot of things and they have always been great. If we want to shop around we go to Botany where there is BF, BC and Farmers.

How funny, was just having a similar conversation after a trip to Baby factory in hamilton. They have been rude everytime iv been in there. 1st time they told us they didnt do bassienette mattresses. Found this rather odd, so walked out and went elsewhere to make my purchases. Since been in there and seen them, felt like telling the lady heres your f'n mattresses lol. Baby city staff were lovely, asking when i was due etc.

I love the BF in Tauranga.
BC is just as good, but it's a little further out of town, so I prefer BF.

LOL, just shows how different they can all be. We found the staff at Baby City friendly enough but useless when you want to ask them about something and if you need to order something in.

I prefer the Baby City in Tauranga to Baby Factory, have found the staff tend to leave you alone at BF esp when you actually need advise or have questions, BC are great and also closer to us so tend to end up there the most.

I hate to say it but have always found service at BF Takapuna terrible.. no one comes to help me or are too busy chatting, and didn't call me to let me know an ordered item had come in though they said they would. The worst was when I went in to buy a MB with my mum, I was asking the sales lady questions about it and to demonstrate etc and she was responding to my mum and ignoring me though I was clearly the one with the baby bump! So I always go to BF Albany, staff are fantastic and are really on to it
Baby City in Albany I have always found bad too.. staff aren't really very well informed of the products and are never available anyway
And I don't think I have very high expectations.. compared to other retail stores

I found Baby Factory in Takapuna were not very helpful or friendly.
Baby Factory in Albany were the complete opposite.

I our local BF, they have always been so helpful, once when we were there when the gremlins were tiny they put Mercedes in the display hammock coz she was screaming! And when my car was stolen and the insurance paid out on the carseats, stroller etc. they were super helpful with helping me find the same items, and when I bought lil miss' hammock and it was faulty, again brilliant service.
Can't say I think much of the staff at Newmarket tho, I hired my snap and go wheels from there and the lady was really nice on the phone but a cow when I actually went in there.

I love our BF too, I know the manager now as she is sister of a friends friends but she's great. Some of the other staff are not that great though.
BF is nearer to my house then BC which is the only reason I shop there so often.
