Anyone have a MAC?

If so is it any good?

Im thinking about getting one just for IMOVIE.

Or is there another programme like Imovie for Windows?

I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro. DH also has a MacBook Pro. I moved to macs because I do photography and he's a software developer. We love them and I couldn't imagine ever going back to a PC now.

I only used iMovie for the first time the other week to make a quick video from my ultrasound and it was great fun. Once I figured out how things worked I thought it was fantastic. I've also used GarageBand to produce my husbands old business podcast and found it super easy.

There are a few little tricks you need to learn and things you need to get used to on a mac that are very different from PC, but once you have it all down you can't understand how you dealt with such a disease stricken, illogical computer when you could have a mac

Ok so I *was* just having a quick lurk, but I had to login and comment real quick on this topic cos I couldn't resist! Lol

We're a mac family and we love them. They're so much more stable than PCs, can handle a lot more data (hence why they're good for photography, you can store loads of high def photos without the risk of crashing the computer). Sure at first it takes a bit of getting used to - we had to use them at uni and at first I absolutley hated them cos I didn't know all the shortcuts etc. But once I learnt that pressing the apple key with the mouse button was the same as right clicking, and that I could actually plug in my regular mouse and it worked with right click, I was away laughing. Macs also don't get viruses.

Anyway yeah I've used imovie lots and it's great. You're welcome to look at the lil movies I've made that are on youtube, I can pm you the link. Pretty much the standard though, some with photos/text or short videos, music in the background and fades etc. It's so fun and easy to use.

There is a PC alternative, Windows MovieMaker. I personally don't think it's as stable or easy to use, but it's there

I have a mac powerbook and its awesome, we've had it 5 years and just recently upgraded it. I use imovie so I can send videos via e-mail to England and find it easy to use.
Dh sometimes thinks about getting a pc for gaming but other than that we would never go back, the mac is just so easy to use and its so reliable as well, I don't even know what the equivalent of cntrl +alt +delete is as nothing ever crashes.

I use to get so annoyed at work having to deal with crappy windows all the time, everything just works on a mac its incredible.

Lol, cuppatea, the mac equivalent of cntrl-alt-delete is "force quit". I use it regularly I'm using both at the moment, and I go through phases of loving and hating my mac. Mostly hating at the moment . But I'm using it for much more complicated things than my little pc gets used for, so its not really a fair comparison. After using a mac for 6 months, I still prefer the PC overall. But thats just me. And you want it for something quite different to what i'm torturing mine with

What makes a Mac so good? Like why do you guys love it so much?

To be honest I dont really understand the difference between that and a normal pc? Only because Ive never looked at them I guess and because all I want it for is Imovie?

I'm coming to you live from my MacBook, I absolutely adore it. Never ever going back to a PC.

It's just so easy to use once you get the hang of it (about two days for me). It all just makes sense - I find myself thinking, 'I wonder if I can drag this here and it'll do this?' and then it does. The designers thought through everything really well.

Never used iMovie though, can't help you there.
