Topic: Im a bit down today. Posted: 02 May 2006 at 12:55pm |
I'm having a really hard day emotionally today. I just can't get motivated. There's washing to be hung out... clean clothes to be folded and put away... dishes to do... I've got a couple of assignments due over the next 10 days to get finished... I just can't concentrate and the next thing I know an hour has dissappeared.
I've struggled with depression on and off ever since I first got it as a side effect of some medication 6.5 years ago, but this is the worst I've been. I feel like I'm hanging out for the end of the year, when we'll be able to move...

hey don't worry about the washing and folding that can all wait. And the assignment will still be there tomorrow as well. You need to take care of you.
Do you have a friend that you could call and go for coffee? Getting out of the house just to get your mind in another place may help.
If not i am sure there are heaps of ladies on here to make you feel a bit better hopefully.

Aww I've been at that low stage too. Have you tried St Johns Wort? Don't do what I did though and pop too many as it made me feel really numb (emotionally) and I ended up feeling worse until I sorted out how many I needed to take. Either that or a huge bowl of ice cream and a good old girly blub! Most importantly, the world won't end if the laundry isn't put away - if it's getting you down HIDE IT! shhh don't tell my hubby

Oh Becca....big ....I hope you feel better soon.
These guys are right...go out of the house, have a coffee, do a bit of shopping, have a chocolate cake (yes and I mean a whole one), have a bath ...and then if you feel better do what you have to. Other wise...tomorrow is another day.
chin up!!!

Thanks ladies... going for a walk sounds like a good idea..
When I saw the doctor a couple of weeks ago she offered to refer me to a psyc nuse (as I can't take medication while pregnant) who just rung. I'll see her tomorrow, so that will be good.

Big hugs sweetie
I wish I knew something to make you feel better but I know depression doesn't work like that. Instead I'll be praying for you ok?

Promise not to tell me to snap out of it, Liz, and I'll promise not to snap your head off, okay?
The visit with the psych nurse went really well. I've got mild-moderate depression, but there's people helping me now so I will get through this. The nurse, Raewyn, is going to organise a councellor and home help for me, so I can pull myself out of this both emotionally and physically. It's preferred that I don't take meds while pregnant, although it is an option if things get too much for me.
This probably started as mild postnatal depression after having Josiah, but has really been beneath the surface since having Kiya.
