Any tips & pointers would be highly appreciated. Thing that gets me is the 'identifying & responding to hazards' part where they apparently get you to talk through ....can anyone tell me what they mean by this exactly? Can someone elaborate on this and give me a few examples of what they'd be looking for exactly - I'm a little stumped.

TIA Ladies

They look for things like a person standing on the side of the road - it's a hazard as they could run out into the road. Or a cyclist biking along - a car door could open and push them into your lane so you would have to avoid an accident. It's mainly about watching and being aware - if you're coming up near a school, looking out for kids and slowing down if necessary.

Does that help?

I named just about everything I could see as a hazard, except for trees and shops LOL... the guy seemed happy enough with that, he said that yep even parked cars are a hazard, pedestrians, moving traffic, animals, kids and schools etc.

Ok so I have a fair idea of what hazards they are meaning, but when they say 'how you respond to them' - what do they mean exactly?

Does it mean for example - 'School coming up, children nearing pedestrian crossing therefore I am slowing down, braking and preparing to stop'?...i mean basically slowing down and changing gear/ or braking (i drive manual) is the only response you can have, other than keeping a vigilant eye at all times?

Make sure when you are doing your first bit of it (just the driving part), make sure you turn your head to look in the mirrors.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Remember to look over your shoulder when backing or changing lanes (or going into the median strip).

An example of hazards is, I'm approaching an intersection and there is a pedestrian to my right, a car stopped at the lights to my left. The light is green, no traffic coming and I have right of way (and proceed to drive through). Other hazards would be, we are approaching a school or passing a bus, but there are no children in my path.

Congratulations!

It took me until I was 24 to get mine - I got a really really grumpy guy at the Botany AA centre and he failed me within the first 5 mins - I rebooked in Penrose and I passed!
