Topic: Upgrading to broadband Posted: 03 February 2009 at 9:42pm |
We currently have dial up through telstra and want to get broadband for my course. Does anyone know what the deals are for broadband? I don't really have the time to ring around and find out so any help would be much appreciated.

We're on Vodafone, package deal - landline telephone + broadband 20gig, for 90 a month. we're running 3 computers off the wireless modem, my partner and boarder are both big online gamers and I do a lot of googling and email, so we have really high usage. It's fast, and if we do use all our usage for the month it just slows us down to dial-up speed and we can keep online for no extra charge (but do have the option to 'buy' more broadband for the month if we want)

We just have the standard Telecom deal - home line and 3GB broadband for just over $80 a month. I rarely use all 3GB though!!

I have just upgraded mine with Telstra. I wanted to compare them with the other companies, but the website would only give me a whole package price. (ie for the TV/Cable/Phone)
So I called them.
It works out to be $34.95 for a 5gb package, no contract, free modem and installation. I also managed to get the first month free

Do you have DTV too? Cos 5gb is $44.95, but having all 3 services you get BB $13 cheaper

We are with Orcon... their site is easy to get around www.orcon.net.nz
Once you are on broadband you'll never be content with dialup!

Ooo thanks this sounds like me and we already have telstra landline. I have to get at least 3gig for my course since so much of it is online so 5 sounds great.

Depends if you are cable or homeplan. If you pay $35.95 for phoneline, you are cable, if you pay $40 smething you are homeplan and its more expensive..

Are you on $3.95 dial up or $16.95 dial up? Are you paradise or clearnet?
They have:
$3.95 clearnet unlimited dialup - can only have if you have phone and take a 1 year contract.
$12.95 clearnet 150 hours
$16.95 clearnet unlimited dialup
$10 20 hours paradise
$15 150 hours paradise
$20 250 our paradise
Lots of options aye.
I hope you are cable, its WAY better than the other option.. Also they do free install and no contracts..

We must be on clearnet as its $12.95 for 150 hours. So it must be around $36 for the landline, would that mean it was cable?

Heres a number to save you waiting 0508 537 837 - it puts you through to sales automatically instead of waiting for customer service, and at the moment we are getting hammered. Like 40 people long queues at 6pm.
