    Posted: 23 August 2009 at 7:50pm
I put this in my due in thread but am hoping for an answer.. ASAP.

Short story:
I'm in Australia but discovered some bleeding. Went to the hospital where they did the bloods and my HCG has dropped down to 900 (having been at 3000 after my first blood test) so I know that the fetus has died. I have a flight out tomorrow night but I'm not sure who I should contact back in NZ in the meantime as I'm not bleeding so not passing any pregnancy matter.

Would midwife be best?

I'd contact midwife. She'll organise a scan to confirm whatever has happened.
I just wanted to send you a huge hug

First of all. Hope your doing ok.

I would contact your midwife when you get back She/he will know where to go from here depending on how far along you were.

Sorry should have added that I was at 13 weeks. It's a real bugger as my flight isn't until tomorrow night so won't get back until nearly midnight.

Just wanted to give you a massive HUG! I know that your journey to where you are wasnt an easy one (reading on previous posts)
Your midwife will know what to do, probably send you for a scan when you get back and go from there. In the meantime i hope you have some support over in OZ from family or friends!

Can you call your midwife from Oz? Maybe something can be booked in tomorrow, so that you can see someone the next day (after you've slept, of course!) Do you have her email address? It just seems you'd like to sort something out quickly.

What a horrible thing to happen, to get to 13 weeks... such a cruel rollercoaster you've been on for the last 3 months.

Maya, I got offered the chance to have the D&C in Aus but really just want to be back home.

I already got my flight changed to the earliest possible time after a few tears to Qantas.

lemongirl, so sorry for your loss. I was 13 weeks when I had a m/c. I had no warning & was having a routine scan that showed no heart beat. I turned down a D&C as wanted to do it naturally. I had no idea of what to expect. I went into a labour state early the next morning & this went on for hours until all products were passed, Had I know what to expect I think I would of done the D&C. Then had to have a scan to make sure no products were retained.

I suggest you contact your MW, get a scan & talk your options, you don't want to be stuck on a plane if you start to full on m/c

Yeah I was thinking that too Jazzy. I'd have gone with a D&C asap if I'd known what I was going to go through!!

So sorry for your loss lemongirl

I am with the others - I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks, had a bit of bleeding then a scan which showed there was no heartbeat. I went for my D&C but after waiting a whole day and being treated like poo at the hospital I decided to go home.
I spent almost two days in labour, it was quite painful and really sad - I also suffered from a very nasty infection a while later.

Hugs.

Stef - So sorry. Your loss has left me weeping as well. Just quickly - my midwife referred me to the EPAU (Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit) at Greenlane Hospital for my miscarriage and essential termination. I think you can even refer yourself. You possibly already know this by now.
I just wanted also to add that a D&C is not actually that ghastly an experience. I've had 3. I had the best sleep I'd had for ages under anaesthetic (dreams and everything) and you wake up with no pain. They said I may have some cramping but I didn't have anything. Personally having first tried to just sit it out and miscarry "naturally" I would definately recommend the D&C. It's just fast and all over. The bad part though was waiting around and having to go through the horrible story with every damn nurse and doctor and the hideous food they serve you at Auckland Hospital.
Good luck.
