Topic: help with baby clothes Posted: 17 September 2009 at 12:07pm |
does anyone know where I can get cheap or basically free baby girl clothes?
we are so strapped for money (according to our budget adviser we are down -$35 per week )
so anyone know who can help me?
I know of pregnancy help here in Christchurch but wonder if there are any other organisions or people that can help?

Plunket are a good start - I would happily give you my baby girls clothes but I've already donated them all to Plunket!
Hopefully they are of some help to you. And congratulations - a wee girl!!!! Thats great!

you have heaps of time to go - just dont panic and keep an eye out... i saw some onesies in baby factory for $1 the other week... you should be able to use a lot of the boys baby stuff anyway too... another place to check is the 2nd hand stores if you are looking for bargains..(better start looking at reusable nappies too )

You could find out when the multiple birth club have 'garage sales'. My friend is a member up here, and they have garage sales every few months in our area, as a lot of people who have twins or more don't often go on to have more kids, and they have LOADS of stuff they need to get rid of. So I'm sure their prices would be real cheap too!

Try trademe, I put all my boys stuff they have out grown on there & then that pays for their summer clothes. Also try the sally shops you can get heaps for nearly nothing, so I have heard.

Tishy I have just been sorting some clothes to go on trademe, I can dig out the unisex ones and give them to you. I was only gonna do $1 reserve and some I was gonna bung in the clothing bin. Not all of them are in the best condition though, but might be good on top of whatever else you manage to get.
Let me know

Look out for the plunket and toy library sales, our one is having a fundraising sale with kids and maternity clothes in October.
Sat 10th Oct, 9-12
St Martins presbyterian Church, 43 St Martins Road.
We've all just donated a few items so I'm sure you could pick up some bargains there.
I second, third, fourth trademe for second hand clothes. We bought a bulk lot on there when Jack was a baby for $200 (6-12 month lot) and he's just grown out of the last of it now, plus I've sold it all again and made my money back

sometimes you can find bargains on trade me but the postage alone makes it a pricey purchase.
