Topic: Favourite books list     Posted: 18 December 2009 at 8:36pm |

I thought it might be useful to start a list of our favourite books. Maybe everyone can add to the list as they find a book they like and maybe if you like a book already on the list you can add x2 or x3 etc next to it.

 My current favs are

 Giraffes Cant Dance
 Snuggle up Sleepy ones
 Gruffalo
 Room on the broom
 Roadworks
 Piggity wiggity jiggity jig

I love all the Julia Donaldson books (Gruffalo etc), and the "Olivia the Pig" series, as well as the classics like Where the Wild Things Are, Winnie the Pooh.
I was looking at Giraffes Cant Dance this morning, it looks like a very cool book

Just about all the Julia Donaldson books.

Gracie loves the buzzy bee ones but I think that is just the colour.
Russell the sheep series is good too.
I just have far too many books to remember them all

I just thought it would be good to compile a list of the favs so that if anyone is thinking "what should I buy" they could come and find one.....like a best sellers list.

I quite like Gordon Wilfried McDonald Partridge - its a lovely story (have always used if for teaching)

Love Giraffes Can't Dance too
Hmm there's a whole lot of books that DH and I had when we were little with that litte critter in them, titles such as "merry christmas mom and dad" and "just got to bed!" etc. They're fab.
And pretty much any golden book - we have heaps from when we were little that Jack loves.
Oh, and Jack got The Little Yellow Digger (Scholastic one) from DC for Xmas - it's great for a boy!

Just remembered my fav: The little mouse, the big ripe strawberry and the big hungry bear. (often just called the big hungry bear) - not many words but great pictures to get the conversation going.

I also love Wilfred Gordon Macdonald Patridge

Helen Oxenbury books for the littlies - very simple rhymes that stick in your head but Daniel is enthralled by them

We've just got one called "Hugs and Kisses" and whenever we read it, Daniel blows kisses at me while I read it. So we both enjoy it!

We love us some Boo! (the Asquith & Good one) too. So cute when the baby starts going "bo!" while waiting for the Boo! in the book.

Her other current favourites are Peepo and The Very Busy Spider - for the animal noises. >.>

Might have to have a look for Giraffes Can't Dance, I think!

Berestein Bears books from when I was a child, esp Bears in the Night and Bears on Wheels

Oscarboo, is there more than one Russell the Sheep book? We have the one about not being able to get to sleep and we love it. Didn't realise there were more.
