Topic: can they do this Posted: 15 January 2010 at 1:35pm |
Ive just realised that telecom have disconnected our phone line.
We have had no letter, email nothing
not a flippen word!
and the thing is I can't even bloody ring them! I can only ring 111 and that's it!! ARGH!
you think they would ring or send something like a reminder letter about your account but we have received NOTHING! the last letter we got from them was dated the 23rd December and was about our broadband account which they overcharged us!

Sounds like they have made an error - can you go to your neighbour's to phone them? I had to do this when we moved and they didn't connect the phone when they said they would. Is the bill paid in full? Don't know if they have small print covering things like that.
From a legal perspective I don't know if they can do it or not, but from a courteous and professional perspective it is pretty off as you have no indication or warning it was going to happen. From what you've said my guess is they have made a mistake
Hope you get it sorted soon

This exact same thing happened to us last week!!! man I was wild I thought I had payed the bill but must of got side tracked at the post shop and forgotton Anyway at 4.50 last tuesday afternoon they friggin disconnected it. So i had to race down and pay it then ring through the receipt number and they bloody charged us for a reconnection.
The thing that sucks the most is they are a PHONE company surely its in there interest to do reminders like other companys do!!!!

Sometimes they don't send a letter, but do an automated phonecall thing, - with an automated voice - so maybe they rung you when you weren't home.
Bummer!

If you can get to a ph & ring them ask them if they will credit back the over-billing for BB, now, it may help.
We got a letter saying our broadband had been overcharged also & they would credit it back in Feb, don't know why we have to wait that long, but they have doubled our GB so that's an extra 40GB but still annoying about there billing.
I pay fortnightly amounts on our bills it makes it easier & they see a regular payment coming & it is usually in credit by a few $$, I hate stressing about bills.

I got it sorted!
I finally got ahold of them and asked why they disconnected us with no warning!
she said yes there was no letter or anything issued so reconnected us free! and we set up a payment plan for the existing bill (there was an error in our bank account to which the telecom bill didn't get paid last week) but otherwise payments were fine!
just got her to put a toll bar on our account and remove the callerID and callwaiting
Jazzy - I tried to ring them too but couldn't get though, will keep trying

Good on you, I hate it when we have things that we are used to & then they are stopped for what ever reason....our water was off for nearly 4hrs yesterday thanks to workmen cutting the pipe, & as usual that when you want it the most
