Please share any tips you have that ease morning sickness. I am so completely miserable, I'm battling to work, I cant eat, I cant drink and I am over it all already

My GP gave me Maxolon and its doesnt help at all (I dont know if its my imagination but it seems to make it worse rather than better).

Poor you :-( I know how you feel.

Like Kebakat said, try the lot - I did, all at once, and that sort of took the edge off it. I nibbled constantly on ginger biscuits and popsicles. And the seabands were my best friends for 4 months. I also found once I started actually throwing up -as opposed to full-time nausea -that the nausea decreased a bit.

Hope it goes away soon :-)

Maxalon didnt work for me either.Either did the sea bands. The only thing that helps me a little is sipping Mizone sports drink all day.I know some midwives recommend it.

I feel for you!! I am going through the exact same thing at the moment. See if your doctor will give you Cyclizine as well, Maxalon does nothing for me but taking the 2 together 3x per day seems to help slightly (as in I know if I haven't taken them). They are perfectly safe for baby and I had them during my last pergnancy too.
My dr has also given me Scopoderm patches, which I have yet to try as the chemist was out of stock, but I am pinning my hopes on them working!! Just tell your doctor how sick you are and that you can't function and ask what other options there are. And if you find out any others that help that I haven't named here, please let me know!

Hugs & I really hope this passes for you soon

Firstly big - MS is not nice, let alone all day sickness and having to look after a toddler as well.

I had all day sickness and my doc prescribed me maxalon which didn't work at first, but later on worked (in fact I am still on it now as my MS hasn't gone away), so hopefully it will work later on for you once your hormone levels have settled down. I went back to the doc and they prescribed me stemtil (suppositories) which I had to take in conjuction with the maxalon- they did help a bit (although the stemtil made me very sleepy). If these don't work then some doc's (on advice of a specialist) will prescribe you Zofran (which is quite heavy duty and but seems to do the trick).

I personally found that sea sickness bands, ginger etc only helped in mild MS and did absolutely nothing for me.

I really hope you only get it for the first 12 weeks, as it sux having it through out your whole pregnancy (so far I had about 1 month when I wasn't on the drugs and then once I hit 28 weeks it came back again- but this time as true morning sickess, not all day sickness).

*hugs*
This has been my last 16 weeks experience...but, it thankfully has improved and I'm back at work now.

I've done all of the above suggestions - cyclizine made me really drowsy, so that was good for my all-night spewing for a bit.

I also went to a physio who specialised in womens health and gave me some acunpunture on 3 occasions. That coincided with some improvement (on top of the metacloprimide, cyclizine and ondansetron...and reaching 13 weeks...so bit hard to say which combination of things actually marked the improvement)

Take care, and keep up the small sips of water where you can....sickness is worse when you are dehydrated...

Another after-thought to keep in mind...
Morning sickness generally peaks at about 9 weeks - I definitely found weeks 8 and 9 bad...so, if you get a bit worse over the next couple of weeks, don't despair, that's apparently "normal"....... But do keep in touch with your midwife/GP incase you need any top ups of fluids etc...

Thanks for all the support and suggestions.

Thankfully no spewing once I'm asleep!

I've taken a day's leave tomorrow so I can just stay in bed. Its really a battle to manage work in this state, and then home with an active toddler and a DH on shifts.

Aah thanks Mel, but yeah... she is going into daycare without a doubt! They're having a fancy dress day tomorrow that she's excited about.

The boss has said that if I am contactable on email then they wont take it off my leave as well which is good. Planning to spend the whole day in bed!

For me liquids. And patato soup. LIterally just boil a bit of patato in water and then puree it. Nothing much added to that as such. And sip it a bit at a time.

Mine wasnt so bad in the first few weeks it was the last of the second and then the third trimester that I got bad.

And have water with you all the time. I felt better if I sipped a bit as soon as I started feeling worse again.

And if you are on elevit stop that. Seriously that stuff made it a lot worse for me.

Acupuncture really helped me. It does take a couple of times to kick in but it was a lifesaver.

Nothing worked for me, really... but being on a cocktail of drugs helped. It made me feel really tired all the time but better than vomiting constantly.

Suck a lolly when starting to feel hungry/sick so that you have time to get something to eat before throwing up. The bit of sugar in your tummy helps settle things a little.

I also lived on iceblocks and sports drinks, to actually keep some fluid down, water didn't stand a chance.

Eat starchy foods like potatoes and pasta. They tend to stay down a little better. I just about lived on hot chips in my first trimesters Don't feel guilty about eating "bad" junky food if you are having trouble keeping food down and your appetite is crap... any food is good at that stage. I always felt guilty because everyone was telling me I should be eating heaps of fruit and veges... ideally, yes, but they wouldn't stay down!
