Good to hear things are going well!

We are doing well here, just cruising along,

DS goes to his dads for 1 or 2 nights every second weekend now.

I have him for xmas day then he goes to his dad's from 26th - 29/30th.

Not much planned for christmas, i have 2 weeks off work, same with DP so we may go somewhere when i don't have DS for the week.

Xmas day will probably be spent with My parents in morning then DP in the afternoon, nothing to exciting this year.

We will just do the normal thing of heading out to my familys farm for the day. I think DD's dad will be up at some point and he is welcome to attend however he might decide not too. DD hasnt seen him since sept when we went and stayed, he keeps moaning to me on the phone about how he misses her, not my problem if you move 1000km away for work! If he does come up it will be fab cause he can have the fun job of getting DD to bed at night and I can go out for a change!!!! Yippee!!!

Yay for being happy minik8te

Things are same old same old here. I am still having issues with DD's dad constantly undermining me and making me the bad guy and she is playing up quite a lot, telling me Daddy lets her do this and that (most of which is true). I am trying hard not to let it get to me and most of the time I suceed, its just been in the last week or so its been annoying me again.

I am not sure what we are doing for Christmas. DD's birthday is next week and her Dad doesn't like to talk about Xmas till after it.....which usually means I tell him what's going to happen and he has to put up with it coz I've made plans already by then. I am taking her to Christmas lunch with my family so I will probably tell him he can have her in the afternoon like we did last year and the year before. I figure if it really mattered to him he would actually discuss it with me like an adult a bit earlier. Last year I gave up and waited for him to ask me about it and he didn't bother till 5pm on Christmas Eve!

I applied for my divorce last week - it takes effect a month and a day from the date of filing of the papers which just so happens to be Christmas Day The order won't be sealed till the 4th of January though coz that's when the court reopens. Can't believe its been more than 2 years since we split up.

congrats?! on the divorce shelt...great timing.
Glad your happy minik8 nice to hear a happy ending!
Same old same old here... working lots, back to full time now and finding it very tiring. Only got the stats off over xmas, may go to my parents if I can be bothered driving 4 hours...we will see otherwise will just be a quiet day with A and me. Dont imagine we will hear from his dad it's nearly a year since he last saw him and about 6 months since the last phone call.
Not a big xmas fan anyway so will be glad when it's all over and done with

Well I was wrong...DS dad turned up for an hour yesterday morning. Gave him a present more suited to a 7 to 10 year old. Sat on the couch for an hour, watched TV dozed, barely interacted with his son then left... phew thats over with for another year

Congrats, Hannahemily, hope all is going well for you?

Congrats Hannahemily - hope things are going well for you.

Welcome KirstyO

How is everyone else doing at the moment? Its been a bit quiet in here. G and I are ok. I am on holiday still (been on holiday for 2 weeks, got another week to go) and I am finding it a bit tough to be honest. She's generally been pretty good but we were supposed to go camping and couldn't go (big storm) and there has been soooo much rain, it just feels like its been the two of us stuck inside for days on end. We have been out seeing people and doing a few things but I think the rain just makes it seem like those visits are few and far between! I feel bad because she just wants to play with me all the time but I would like to do a few things for myself and I'm finding it tough to balance housework, chores (cooking dinner etc), playing with her and having a few minutes for myself. Not sure why because its just been the two of us for a looong time now but seems like she is just so much more demanding than she used to be. She wants me to watch her do puzzles that she can do perfectly well by herself, and be part of her elaborate role play games etc. I find myself getting short tempered because I am trying to get stuff done and she is constantly demanding my attention.

Anyway, enough moaning How did everyone's Christmas go in the end?

Hi Shelt:)

How old is your daughter?  I think I understand your dilemma with her, I'm finding things very similar with JD (my almost-3-year-old).  He just won't play on his own!  Its driving me nuts!  He won't play outside unless I go with him and watch, and he constantly wants me to play with him.  I don't know how to persuade him to just play with his toys on his own for a while.  Gets really frustrating with a baby, and housework is simply not getting done until late at night.

Have you tried anything specific with your daughter to try to get her entertaining herself for a while?

Edit: Ah I just noticed from your ticker that she is 3 ... maybe its their age?

Yeah I can imagine its difficult with a baby as well KirstyO. I had some sucess this week with making sure I spent quite a bit of one on one time with her, playing with her for a good period of time on an activity and then leaving her to it for increasing periods of time. That and taking her to the park and for lots of walks to wear her out! I think (I hope) its just a stage. She's back to daycare on Monday so it will be interesting to see what she's like next week.

Hope everyone else is going well.

I think she may just enjoy having her mama to herself. No work no daycare she prop thinks she is in heaven, that and kids love attention the more the get the more they want

A quick question - Do many of you guys work?  Fulltime/parttime?  Work from home?  Are you on DPB?

I work, and have done since DD was 4.5months old. I work between 27.5hrs - 30hrs a week in the summer and about 32/33hrs a week in the winter. I tried working some of my hours from home when DD was younger. It worked really well when she was little and had two sleeps a day. It was harder when she went down to one sleep coz it wasn't enough time to get stuff done, and when she cut out her day sleep completely it fell apart. I ended up doing most of the work at night which made me tired and cranky and when she was sick her sleep went AWOL and I just couldn't get a consistent go at getting the work done. I just do my hours in the office now, its easier that way.

I work 30 hrs/wk at the moment, although I have just got myself a new job which will be 8.30-5 Mon-Fri and I start next week. I was on the DPB for the first year after we separated - worked part-time and got a DPB topup.
