Ahh, I see. Thanks for explaining it for me. I had also wondered what baby asprin did too
I think the cramps are ok as long as they are not really painful. I remember mentioning to my mw about still feeling AF cramps and she assured me it was fine, and it was as I have DS to show for it. But I know what you mean about becoming more in tune with your body tho after a mc.
Yeah good idea, I think I will wait till 7 weeks. Will book appointment soon, very exciting

Jacobsmumma - I am on the postergene cause of my IVF cycle, with IVF you body doesnt always make it naturally and like Karen said, it keeps the uterus in great condition, and you have to keep using them till your levels rise. Well thats my take on it, all the reading up I have done.

I am supposed to keep using them till 13-14 weeks which is when the placenta takes over... until then it's the ovaries which do the majority of the work... I think

Hey KarenMae, I have had two MC also, and this will be my first baby... I am not on any of the medication that you are taking... I had my first lot of blood tests today, they are going to test weekly - do you think this sounds ok, or should I be asking for more??? Want to try and do everything right this time!!
I have also had some light crampy feelings - hoping thats normal too! Got a bit of MS today so I will take that as a good sign :)

Hi Ladies,
For those experiencing slight cramps, have a quick read of the below:
Cramping in Early Pregnancy
Many women get concerned by cramping that they experience in early pregnancy. Some might worry that this is a sign that their pregnancy is not viable and that a miscarriage is on its way. Fortunately, more times than not, that isn’t the case.
Cramping in early pregnancy is common and usually very normal
Some women might feel cramping as soon as seven days after they ovulate. If they are in fact pregnant, then this cramping is called implantation cramping and is the cramping that occurs when the egg attaches itself, or implants, to the uterus. It is not cramping that all women feel, and can be easily unnoticed.
Some women start cramping shortly after they get a positive pregnancy test as their uterus starts preparing to carry a baby for nine months. The uterus is a big organ and as it grows in early pregnancy cramping is expected. If the cramping is constant or too intense for you to handle however it may not be “normal” and you should call your doctor if you feel you need to for reassurance.
Another type of cramping during pregnancy is called round ligament pain
This is cramping that occurs as the muscles under your uterus expand and grow in order to support the weight of your uterus and baby as it grows. This is probably the most complained about cramping in early pregnancy, and one most pregnant women will experience.
Cramping in early pregnancy is usually nothing for a woman to get worried about. Actually you can be comforted by knowing that if minor cramping does occur, then your body is probably preparing as it should to sustain the pregnancy. Cramping can also continue into the second and third trimester as the uterus continues to grow and as the body prepares for labor. But if you ever feel that the cramping is not normal, be sure to call your doctor for advice.
xx

Spanna - I would push for the progesterone - I'm on 10mg morning and night and it's called Provera. It does no harm, but will help if you have a problem. If Dr questions it - say that is the amount/type that Dr Barton Matshe from Boulcott clinic suggests - he is the leading specialist in the Hutt. I take until around 12-14 weeks.
Asprin - I take the 75mg low dose that you just buy from the supermarket so you can pick it up yourself - I think it's called Heartcare - designed for daily use. Don't take a full Asprin as that will thin your blood too much.
I'm getting another HCG blood test tomorrow - it's best to get them 2-3 days apart rather than weekly. Results should double in that period (2-3days).
I'm going to ask to get them up until my first scan at around 7 weeks.
Hope this helps!!!!
Some doctors aren't up on all the fertility options, but I'm very lucky that mine is...

Thanks for that KarenMae, its really interesting to see what someone in a very similar position is doing.... I have actually just changed doctors (my previous doctor told me after the second miscarriage not to worry cos once I had kids, I wouldn't want them anyway!!) so I will make an appointment and talk to them about the progesterone and will pick up some asprin today!
Thanks for the info on cramping too Jacobsmumma, good to know these things are normal! Guess I am just a little paraniod at every little twinge this time...
Have a good day everyone!

Hi All,
Just a query for all you other expectant mothers...
We didn't plan our pregnancy so it came as a shock when we found out 2 days ago, I have been on contraceptive pill for a long time so was not expecting it.
I am really excited as I would love to be a mum, but my partner isn't sure what he thinks, it has been a bit rocky with us over the past few months but seemed to be back on track til we got the news...His doubts are fueling mine...I don't want to be a single mum but i don't want a termination either.
Can anyone give me some advice? I am 23, which I think is a good age as I have a steady job and am ready to be a mum (i think) and my partner is 40 (no previous children) he owns our home and also has a great job so I think financially we would be fine, but it seems to already be taking its toll on our relationship after only 2 days. I know my hormones are probablly affecting my decision and that men dont have these hormones so may take him longer to make his mind up.
Also, is there any help out there for daddys-to-be?
Thanks all,
Emma

Hi Emma, oh gosh what a tough situation to be in. I can't speak from my own personal experience but I would imagine any unexpected pregnancy would take time to come to terms with, so I would try to give it some time to sink in (for both of you) before you do something you may end up regretting down the line. Like you said its only been two days since you found out, that's not long at all to get your head around something as big as this. At the end of the day noone else can make the decision for you and you shouldn't feel pressured by your partner either.
I'm not sure this has helped, maybe there's someone on OB that's been in the same situation that can give you some guideance? I hope you come to the right decision soon, whatever that may be. Goodluck hun xx

Hey Jacobsmumma,
Thanks for your reply, I think we will just see how we go next week, got my dating scan on Tuesday 10/05/2011 (could you please add this to the list as i have no idea how ) I think once we see 'it' our decision will be easier...FX (i am so not up with the slang but i'm learning)
Hard to be at work while all this is on my mind, but my manager is so supportive so I'm lucky. Just hoping my partner sees the scan and falls in love

Waiting must really suck KarenMae! Hope that you get the results soon - will be thinking of you! Try and stay positive, its gotta help!
Emma - sounds like a pretty tricky spot that you are in, I would say just hold off making your decision until you are 100% sure that you are doing the right thing for you and your partner. There are loads of support groups out there for guys if he would be willing to go... ? Hopefully he will fall in love when you have the scan :)

Just added Emma's scan date Has anyone else booked their first scans yet or organised a mw? Where's everyone from too? Maybe in a few weeks time, once we get to 'know' each other better, maybe we can organise a meetup??

Afternoon ladies - wow been busy here today.
Karen - hope you get your results soon and everything is ok.
Spanna - I cant believe your old Dr said that to you - pleased you changed Dr's. What a cow!!
Jacobsmum - thanks for the cramping info, I seem to get a bit during the night - I was hoping it was uterus getting all prepared etc, had read something in my week by week book.
Emma - congrats and hopefully once it all sinks in you and your DP make the right decission for you both. I gunna add my 2 cents, I am 40 at the end of this year, and I was 20 when I had my 1st. After what I have been through to get my 2nd one in a trillon chance of having a baby I would advise you to have your baby as secondary infertility is a nightmare... But at the end of the day it is your decission.
