kids say the darndest things

DD often comes out with some awesome one-liners so I thought it would be fun to share some of the cute/funny things our kiddies say.

When I read DD a story before bed I sit next to her in her bed, both snuggled under the covers. I often have to ask her to move over as my bottom is bigger than the space she left. The other night she moved over and said "there's room for your big bum now"

Yesterday, while reading DD a story "mum I really like your skin" (not sure why, my skin isn't that great).

When I asked her if she liked the new drawers I brought "oh yes mum you make some lovely decisions" (what the?)

While carrying my handbag upstairs "I look like a really old lady carrying this bag" me - do I look like an old lady when I am carrying it? her - "yes, but thats coz you are really really old" (thanks for that one).

Reading Humpty Dumpty in her nursery rhyme book, when I said all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put humpty together again "poor humpty, they need some better sticky tape" (lol).

lmao kids say such awesome things but sometimes they are brutally honest

The other night my 7yr old gave me a hug and said I never used to be able to do this cos you were too round (I've recently lost 30kg)

I went to visit a friend I hadn't seen for a couple of months and her 4yr old son asked my boys why they were visiting with there aunty, when my boys said that it was there mum he said but she used to be really fat lol!!

DS1 (3 years) was playing with the vacuum cleaner cord, trying to plug it in. I told him not to do it in case he got a shock, and he asked what would happen if he got a shock and I explained he could get very hurt and some people have died from electric shocks.

Later on he was asking who Grandads Dad was, and I said that I called him Pop, but he was dead now. After a few moments "Well, he shouldn't have been playing with the vacuum cleaner cord, should he!"

DD and I had a talk about why she doesn't have a brother or sister like her friends do and I told her that maybe one day I'd have another baby but not any time soon. A few days later we went to visit a friend who has a 3 month old and she said "are we taking this baby home mum" and I said no, she was my friends baby not ours and DD said "thats good coz I don't like this one much anyway" lol.

The other day Alex said "Wow mummy look at that fat man" really loudly as this man walked past. Embarrassing!

I was in the kitchen tonight putting dinner together. The kids were in the lounge just around the corner and went a little quiet. I called out to ask what they were doing. Chloe (nearly 3yrs) calls out "I'm reading the news"....okaaaay, so I ask what Alex (11 months) is doing and she says "he's playing on the computer". Images of him sitting in the chair playing an online game while she is perched on the couch with the newspaper spring to mind, so I peak around and she has a little cookbook in hand and he is playing with cable hanging off the desk.
