Topic: Am i really out of line? Posted: 09 January 2007 at 9:35am |
Ok so story goes that i live up the road from a motel that a "friend" had her wedding reception at. She got married at a registry office. Well i have been hunting around for a place to have my 25th and it just so happens that this place falls into my budget so im using it. Now shes refusing to come along just coz i am having a party where shes had her reception?!

Complete nutter ! Your so-called "friend" that is, I wouldn't be worrying about her if she's having a freak out over something so ridiculous. The venue isn't hers and hers alone by any stretch of the imagination !

So what about all the other people that have used the place - they stole her place as well. She needs to get over it. Money is tight so you need somewhere close and afordable for you guys.

only time I would have a problem with it is if it was the night before my own wedding, only because I wouldn't be able to attend for long!
She needs to get over it!

WTF?? She's the one out of line.
Sorry sweets, but if she doesn't attend, that's her problem, not yours.

Thanks ladies shes always been known to be pig headed and this tops them all. I said to her the special part should be where u got married and i think coz it was in a registry office she doesnt see it as special. I personally have my ceremony as special not the party afterwards.

Sorry i find that completely wacked...who cares if she had her reception there...she wasn't the first and she's not going to be the last...it's just a party, if you could afford somewhere else im sure you woulds have gone else where but this place sounds more convenient anyway, being close to home and all.....She needs to get over herself, this place obviously hires out their function room for all sorts of occasions....

May be she feel a bit jealous because she had her big day at the same place....and you can afford to do a big bday party there....or vs may be she feels that people will think that she could have got a better venue, since you are having a bday there...you know what I mean?? May be not!!
But she needs to get over it, you would rather have a fun filled day minus the grump!!
Dont worry and go ahead and enjoy your big day!

I agree with you Roksana. I think she sounds a little jealous that she had a big thing like a wedding there, while you are having a birthday (no offence). she mighty think other people will look down on HER for it. Hope you get that.
However, thats's her problem not yours so I would (try) to ignore the whole thing and if she doesn't want to come, too bad!

OMG i told everyone they should look into my reception venue...i would be thrilled if someone liked it enough to use it for something...be it a birthday or whatever...
tell her to build a bridge and get over it....and invite her and if she doesnt want to come then that is her problem....

I think everyone has said it all but being me I need to put my two cents worth
Its only a building after all, she shouldn't be jealous nor upset for u wanting to use it and can call it a compliment that you want to use the same place - even though you are not using it because she did more of a financial reason.
One of my bridesmaids has her wedding reception at the local rugby club and for the same reason (financial). She had joked that we weren't allowed to go there but as our first chioce was booked it was there. She didn't care.

She ain't worth it. If that is the case, then you can't have it at any of the places anyone has got married. Sorry! LOL!
