Advice - Breast to Bottle

It's usually not too bad to go from breast to bottle timeframe wise, two weeks should be plenty. I ended up switching over to formula over a week, started off with 1 feed of formula a day, then two, then three etc until fully formula fed.

The brand of formula we use is S26 Gold, but there are a few brands out there that are just as good - what you could do is buy some of the single serve sachets that they have at the supermarkets, and see if Ethan likes a particular one, this is what I did before I chose to stick to the S26.

Edited to add: And if you experience any issues with engorgement, use cabbage leaves ! Pop them in the fridge first, and then stuff them in your bra - and should work a treat.

i use s26 gold on kayla too. i dragged most of mine out over a month though. introducing her bottle for the night time feed, then her lunchtime one over a large part then when i felt ready i added an extra bottle a day and expressed a little milk off (and tipping it!)getting less each time while adding a bottle (and that proberly makes no sense!) in the end i made the call to go cold turkey just before christmas (no more breast) but still did the odd bit of expressing every day or so until my milk clamed down (i had lots)

Thanks that sounds good. So what can I expect with my milk? Will my body just stop making it? I am a first time mum and i have no idea.

Wow looks like most use s26 but if you find that he is a bit unsettled on that then i recommend nurture starter (yellow and blue tin) it has a different base ingrediant to s26 so can be a bit gentler on thier tummys if they cant hand s26. As has been mentioned though most brands have sample sachets (which i might add are really handy for leavign in the baby bag just incase)

I found out that althou they can't recommend an infant formula to a new mum s26 is the one that hospitals and midwives prefer to give babies.
