Topic: It was a girl... Posted: 28 March 2007 at 12:03pm |
That stole my car! The police called me at 12.30am (yes am!) to tell me they had found my car and the person who took it, she had been pulled up for breath testing. The car is apparently intact and even my wallet is still inside, altho they can't say for certain that nothing is missing, and it doesn't look like there's any damage to the car itself and the carseats etc. are all there still. Will know more when we pick it up later today - it's all the way down in Ngaruawahia which is a pain in the butt!
The girlw who broke into our house has been charged with a heap of things as well as the burglary and theft of our car so hopefully she will be locked up (altho not holding my breath on that one!).
I am a bit gutted that it was a girl tho, I was expecting it to be a big guy. I feel a bit silly now for being so scared - if I woke up and found a girl in my house I'd bop her one!

That's such great news Emma. Very lucky indeed that she was caught - the horrible cow. Hope she does get locked up but with our stupid justice system I wouldn't count on it. Glad you recovered your car and things, hope nothing is missing.

LOL I have no doubt you would have, but when you have kids you have every right to be scared.
I am so glad it looks like you will get everything back you must be so relieved.
Fingers crossed she gets what she deserves!!

I'm OK. Was feeling quite anxious last night after I relocked the doors for about the fifth time - I kept thinking "what if they're watching us". So finding out that not only was she down in Ngaruawahia but also that the police had her in custody made me feel a lot better and I actually slept okay.
I'm still a bit freaked out at not waking up - makes me wonder if there has ever been someone in the house before and I haven't known even tho I know that's pretty unlikely.
Hopefully my camera and cell phone are still in the car too!

What a silly cow! I think Teresa is right - she must not have seen Willie or she would have been too freaked to go through with it!
Emma, we're here for you. I can understand how you feel, wondering if anyone else has been in your house when you are there... the feeling does pass, and until it does, feel free to come on here and vent!

Can you imagine if she had seen Willy, she probably would have woken you all up knocking things over as she tried to get the hell out of there!!

Thank goodness that they caught her, the horrible witch!
I'll bet she has no idea at all, the effects that it has had on you and your family and I hope she does get punished for it.
Fingers crossed everything is there and intact Emma!

I am so glad that there is a moderatly happy ending for you Emma! Still pretty horrific to experience though!
I am not sure (maybe someone with legal experience can advise) but I think that you can talk to the police / lawyers or courts about sentancing and be 'heard' as a victim. It may not make any difference, but at least someone will be aware that you had 3 beautiful babies in the house, and the affect and trauma it has caused you and your family.

I had a girl break into my flat when I lived in Christchurch. They're very sneaky! I don't think I would have wanted to approach her though as she was a very very scary and doped up prostitute. She managed to scatter a money box full of coins in a big trail from the window she left through, right around the house and out the front gate. Glad they found your car! It's really not nice knowing someone has been inside your home.

For sure! I asked the police that this morning and they said she is appearing in court for a remand hearing today and that a victim advisor will let me know in a couple of days when the actual hearing/sentencing is going to be.
I had decided even before they found the car that if they ever arrested anyone for it I would be standing up to them in court - I don't want them to think they have made me scared coz then they win.
ETA: And I will make sure Willie is there too just coz he looks the part
