Topic: Is there space here for Aunties? Posted: 14 April 2007 at 10:01pm |
My Sister Donna (who is just as lovely as me ) is keen to get involved in some kind of forum to meet new people as our family are recent Kiwis (From the UK).
Thing is... She's baby-less and plans to stay that way for a while so this isn't exactly the right place for her (even though I've told her she'd be made to feel very welcome by all of you lovely ladies (and gents)
Her interests are being the best Auntie in the world Dancing, singing, arts and crafts (she likes to do cross stitch but doesn't want to end up chatting to 80yr olds (no offence to any Nannas out there, but Donna is only 25)
Come on peeps get your thinking hats on and let us know if there are any forums she would like
Thanks heaps
Toni, Caitlin and Auntie Don Don

um, I'm the best aunty in the world, and like chatting to others who think they are the best aunties inthe world. She could come in here, to Oh Baby and maybe hang out in general chat, and we could start up our "top 5" threads again or something non baby to talk about? Clear as mud??

Hi Guys,
Well, um... I'm 25, just bought my first house ever!! With my fiance, and "baby" Rusty ( 4yr old red staffordshire bull terrier) tee hee (I don't know if that counts )
Decided to move to NZ after Toni's wedding, been here before but 1st time for Ben (Fiance). Fell in love with the place immediately, but the big seller was when we found out lil Caitlin was on the way.(no way was gonna miss out on that) It took alot of planning and paperwork but boy was it worth it!!
I love it here, the scenery, the people, but just missing the social life (oooh and the REAL chinese that we have in the UK )
I work as an Event/Wedding Coordinator at The Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna, which is awesome. I finally get to do my dream job at helping people plan their weddings
Thats bout it from me, I really look forward to getting to know you guys abit more

Hi Aunty don don aka Donna (?)
we are staying first in east london but just for the night then up to North east - Sunderland - my home town. We head back down to london for a week before flying out stay in Hamstead.
My Dh has never been to the Uk so an eye opener - we are watching a movie on sky and its based in Newcastle so tellin him what places there are and that we will see it.
Also i am Ann (not hard to work that one out) I have three kids (see below) and married to a kiwi (i am orginally from Uk as said before)Live in Taranaki, not many ppl in Auckland have been here but although quite compared to Uk - especially London - its really nice. I did my OE in uk and found it really hard to come back cause lack of night life but this is home now.

Welcome to OHbaby! Donna! I'm Emma and my wee gremlins play with Caitlin on occasion (actually Caitlin plays, the gremlins just watch amusedly ). My Mum's from London (Brixton ) but has been out here since she was a kid. I went over a couple of years ago with Maya and my sister and we stayed in High Holborn (right opposite the Old Bailey) and caught the underground out to Brixton one day to see the house that Mum was born in (well not actually born in but you know what I mean ) and it certainly was a colorful place!

Hey Donna
I have a ben as well and I do a bit of cross stitch. My SIL is living in London at the moment but they are getting a bit home sick I think.

Welcome to ohbaby! I also suggest for you to join NZWP (aswell as here of course), I am sure your help will be appreciated over there, I just got married myself in February and am still on the NZWP forum!
I also used to live in London in Acton for a couple of years while on my O.E, but have been back home for 7 years now. Boy what a great place to party, they sure have some good places to enjoy a great social life We went back in 2005 to see if we could do another year there and save our butts off to be mortgage free when we got home, but 6 weeks later and I was outta there, couldn't save a penny, night life and more travel is just way to exciting! So decided to head back home to NZ, get married and have a baby - so that's what we've done!

Definitely join NZWP, it is such a great community to share all the things leading up to marriage (and beyond!) And I am also very jealous of your job!
Welcome to NZ - I hope you are enjoying it, even if the weather is rotten at the moment. I lived in the UK for the 2 year OE thing and I loved it there! I also miss the shopping, and the ability to pop over to other countires on the smell of an oily rag. But it is a cruisy lifestyle here. How long have you been living here now?
