Wow i should have read this along time ago... Good to read. I had an emergency c-sec, and bonded with Angus as soon as i could. I wasnt able to hold him for some time as i was very unwell afterwards.

1 thing i will ask, my tummy around my scar is numb... mw says this is normal... does the feeling come back?

Red dragon, this very well could be what your Gyno is looking for?

If you had Endo there is nothing they can do while you are preggers anyway I am sure? The only way to get rid of Endo is with surgery and I am sure there is a significant down time after surgery before pregnancy is safe.....dont quote me though!
I had sugrey on my cervix for cancerous cells before #2 and i wasnt allowed to concieve till the scarring had healed.

I am with soveriegn health insurance and had to choose 'womens specialty cover' on top of my regular insurance to cover a gyno.........
Good luck!!

I had a great experience with my C-section recovered really well, it all went so smoothly that I wouldn't mind having a c section for my next baby, however am worried if people will think im a woss or not a real woman for not wanting to go au naturale

Im the same Salz. I don't see the point in going through 12 hours of painful labour just to end up with an emerg c-section again!! I'll probably be going for an elective c-section next time.

*lurker*

Sprackleberries - BDing stands for sex, and AF means your period.

I had an emergency c section after DS (who is now 2). After 12 hours of labour where I did not progress past 4cm dilated, even after having syntocin, he went into distress & had to be removed asap. It was a very scary experience as for a good 10 to 15 minutes we weren't sure he was going to be okay. Turns out he was facing the wrong way (to the front instead of to the back), his chin was flexed when it should have been tucked under, & the cord was around his neck. The specialist said he was NEVER going to come out on his own.
I found the recovery from the C section really easy. I was up & walking short distances that evening & I really didn't have much trouble with pain. I was driving about 3 weeks later.
I am now 6 weeks pregnant & to be honest, I think I'll opt for the Csection again. I don't ever want to feel the way I did when I thought my baby wasn't going to make it. If someone could guarantee without a doubt that I wouldn't need another emergency csection then I'd have the next one naturally, but if there's any doubt, then I'd rather just go the csection. And I don't care if people think I am being a wuss. The C section was great. All that matters in the end is having a healthy baby.

Edited to say that on 22 apr 2010 I had my baby by VBAC & it was the most amazing experience of my life. I can't believe I was considering an elective C section! The recovery was 100 times easier than a csection...what the hell was I thinking? I never ever want anotehr c section again. I'm so glad my fear of the unknown doidn't stop me from having the vbac.

Wearing a catheter for three days was a new one. A blessing in disguise though, as no running to the loo.

No one warned me that I couldn't stand straight for 2 weeks or drive for 3 months due to the pain.

Taking morphine, voltaren and tramadol for 6 weeks was a surprise.

After reducing the medications, I found that they were the reason why my daughter would stop breathing 4-6 times a day, long enough for the monitor to go off and then start again. Overnight it all stopped when I changed to neurofen.

The pediatrician didn't pick that up.

Now I worry about the meds being a factor in her development being about a year behind my other daughter. Or it could be just what second kids do.

At 21 months post c-section I am still numb to my belly button, and some skin feel like it is burning when I touch it. So I just don't touch it :) Hospital physio recommended rolling a tennis ball over the healed scar to help the ropey/sore feeling. It actually did help me.

Spinals are so much nicer to deal with than an epidural! I have ALL feeling back now instead of being numb from my belly button down (right up until Lily was born 2 years after Thomas!)

They removed the old scarring and I have since found out that they took a good inch of crap, so free small tummy tuck for me ;)

Electives are so much more relaxed than an 'emergency' section except the anticipation kills you.

Elective babies come out so much nicer than emergency babies :P

I was going to have a VBAC, but at 9 days over due my cervis was doing nothing and I was totally over it, and didnt want to risk another horrible labour and delivery so went for the elective. I reckon it was the right choice for me, even though Id have loved the chance to have a VBAC.
