Have decided to buy Jake a pool for xmas but want a few odds and ends from "santa' and such. He'll be just over a year. Any ideas about suitable presents? What did your kids like as toys??

we are getting him a little bike for his birthday. it's so cool, has a handle for mum or dad to push him around with. although it sayd for 18months, we put him in one the other day and he loved it and cried when we got him out. mum has got him a ride on fireengine. She said it has three sirens, but the volume doesn't work. it is constantly on LOUD. Silly woman, we'll be living with her.
i got him some blocks from work the other day, what about duplo or do you think he's too young. it's REALLY cheap over here. about $60 for a HUGE bucket

Yep, and I agree with Janine about the Little People - Maya got some for her first and second xmases, and this Xmas I bought her the Little People Castle coz she still spends hours playing with them.
We always had the same 'stocking fillers' as kids - a book, a CD,a towel, some lollies, a piece of fruit (which amused my brothers no end lol) and some soap/bubblebath/gift set type thingie. Then we would get 1 'big' (ie. expensive) pressie from Santa, and one from Mum and Dad.
I've done the same with Maya the last two years (Hi5 Cd's lol) and will again this year. She loves that she has her own special 'towels'. Last xmas was great coz she was just starting to get into it, and she ran around telling everyone that Santa was bringing her a 'bubba' (Cabbage Patch doll) so this xmas will be even more fun!

yeah we are just gettinga few things for stocking fillers... paris is huge into polly pocket... i know it has a heap of small bits, but she's great, doesn't stick them i her mouth, and loves it.. so have found a few little sets for a few bucks that have i doll in each. will probably just get some hairties and lollies to stick in the stocking with them.
lol Emma, we are little people mad... got the zoo, zoo train, construction vehicles, school bus, busy town, race car, play mat, parading pals, few sets of xtra people, and for xmas she's got the gift set with minivan, tea party and trike, and the playground set..... as i said... i think i'm a bit obsessed... but hey, she spends hours playing with them, sets them all up round the lounge and loves them. And well, Ayja will get heaps of use outta them, and they get GREAT resale on trademe....
I tend to follow what paris likes and buy accordingly.

Ella's number one favourite thing is clothes pegs, the brightly coloured plastic ones (which you press to open). If you get him some of these, he'll have hours of fun with them (Ella's main use for them is to chew on lol). She also likes magnets so we got her some of the alphabet, just make sure that they are not too small :)

A giant box??? I'm going to get Hannah a big box for her birthday. I'm pretty sure for any presents Han is going to have waaaaaay more fun with the paper than anything that is inside!
I'm going to get her a shape sorter and a ball... and books... and puzzles... mmmm... I can't wait to go shopping. I think I'm going to go a bit mad.

lol we do turn about with my sister... luckily this year she's coming to our place... although, have no idea how we'll all fit... it's a bit crazy at the best of times. but add in an xmas tree, and presents... and the girl's cubby house (which apparently we have to put up the night before according to mike , and inside as well! cos we have no yard) it's gonna be crazy!

Scary to think Xmas isnt too far away We usually do the go to one parents for lunch then the other for dinner, but I want to have lunch at our house this year with both families. It will be nice to just stay at our own house with the baby.
