Topic: im so sick of being sick!!!!! Posted: 29 July 2007 at 6:43pm |
ok this is just my little tanty ranty really...
i've had a cold for almost 2wks now which has developed into a lovely flemmy cough that i just can't shake. not to mention how badly my asthma is behaving. i was at the point where i was sucking on the spacer every hour so i thought best go to drs and get some prednisone.
what i thought would be a quick trip ended in a blood test for chest infection test, time on the nebuliser and some prednisone tablets..all this took an hr almost!! thank goodness jack and charli were well behaved after being lugged around 3 different dr rooms.
i haven't heard back about my blood test yet and i've been on the prednisone for 2days and it has helped a little.
the kids have both got colds also and charli has got this wheezing that just upsets me! she's had raspy breathing issues in the past which is still undiagnosed, so we took her to the after hours yesterday and ruled out chest infection etc and just got told to give her panadol and plenty of fluids poor little thing coughs at night and sounds so terrible, i'm taking her to my GP tomorrow for another check...good excuse to see the dr too
i'm just so sick of being sick! our house is damp and cold so that doesn't help much either. we're off to christina concert on thursday so i better not be sick still!
sorry everyone that ended up being very long!

Aw it sucks that everyone is so sick, the girls have just gotten over coldy flu type things thankfully we managed to get away without the usual mandatory chest infection from paris. Just goes to show what moving from a damp cold mould-prone house (even though it had a heat pump the house was sucky) to a nice insulated warm dry house does.. she's had asthma still but none of the full blown chest infections the used to get each time she got the littlest sniffle.
heat pumps are wonderful though we had one at our last house and the nicest thing for us was you could programme it so that it came on whenever you wanted so we made it turn on at 5 am so by 7 when we got up the house was warm and we turned it off when we left and programmed it to turn on just before we got home in the evenings if it was gonna be a long day.
Anyways hope you feel better soon and that the insulation and heat pump does the same for your family and makes winter-time a little less germy.

I was just going to make this post!!
I was sick for weeks and weeks and finally got antibiotics.. now am sick again two weeks after antibiotics finished.
Just went and talked to a Naturopath, I have a chesty cough with a deep wheeze and sore ears etc.. it's essential I get better, and Ella too, as we're flying to the USA next Mon, and we could get ruptured eardrums.
I'm going to try WinterGuard by kiwiherb, it's an immune booster, with Olive leaf and Echinacea root. I'll let you know how it goes, Ella can take it too in a very small dose.. apparently it tastes gross but you can dilute it in juice or water. I'm hoping this will help us.. going to take lots of vitamin C too and cough medicine. My friend is training to be a naturopath and said all of those things are fine together.

Oh yeah..reason I went to a Naturopath and not the doctor - I went to see my doctor 3 times last time I was sick and she didn't do anything for me.

How is Charli doing Vanessa?
Our landlord is trying to get us insulation and a heat pump thru the subsidised scheme too.

charli is doing a little better, thanks emma. still has a wheeze and cough but the snotty nose is clearing up. it's the wheeze that i just can't stand. i know what it's like to not breath comfortably but they won't do anything for her.
i hope your landlord gets the subsidy!
teresa...i had a blood test for infections
