I have a hip strain, which has inflamed the tissue between my hip joint and the skin. It started playing up during pregnancy I think and now I'm trying toget back into shape (DD is nearly 14 months), it flares up.

Doc gave me voltaren, which I'm reluctant to take as am still BF. So i was wondering anyone had had a similiar issue and has tired an osteopath, and if so was it worth it? Or maybe just go to a physio?

Secondly what are good excericises that you can do, I thought swimming would be great, but what about cycling? (Zumba, which while great fun, nearly crippled me).

I would definitly go swimming as its gentle but gives you a good work out.

Also Voltaren is fine when breastfeeding, I was given that after my C Section

Voltaren is sorta a waste of time because its only gonna get rid of the pain not fix the problem. I had lower back/hip/butt pain after Daniel. I eventually went and saw my chiro and he fixed me but it took a while because I had left it so long to do something about. So talk to a chiro/osteo/physio, which ever happens to be your preference.

Yeah that was my feeling about the antiinflamtories - not going to fix it.

When I had problems with my hips and pelvis during pregnancy I found an osteo really helpful!

I've had problems with my hips and have found neurofen to be a bit more baby friendly when pregnant or breastfeeding. I have found aqua aerobics to be the best exercise, but swimming, cycling and depending on how bad it is gentle walking. Doing some yoga, pilates, tai chi or similar for inner strengthening is also good, but you must tell the instructor you have hip problems or you could end up doing more damage.

I have just got over a bad hip strain, I could hardly walk or do anything, & I think it was done by Zumba. Went to the chemist & got Nurofen Plus $18 I did not want Voltaren after the repost of it causing a high risk of strokes. Magic Pills..

Don't know if it is any good while BF but 1.5 days later I could walk & now I have no problems at all.
