That's ok, I heard that if you think you have symptoms you can apply a topical oinkment.

Yes it is "serious" BUT bird flu was a pandemic - it killed 239 people. Each year the standard flu kills between 200-250 people. Swineflu has 388 (and counting) people in isolation here in NZ, but only 18 (and counting) of those actually have the virus. Most of the deaths from swineflu have occured in mexico, where due to the climate, the standard flu is a rare occurance.

flutterby, i hadn't thought about the climate thing thats a very good point. i just read today an article that taks to a scinetist in US who deals with viruses etc and they think this is all very much OTT based on the actual number of deaths etc. Apparntly the WHO lowered their alert levels late last year. The WHO keeps reminding that the 1918 epidemic started out like this but how can you compare when that was 90 odd years ago. we are much more advanced medically today then back then and also have to remember that they had just come out of war which effects sciety in many ways including helath, nutrition etc.

Love the jokes!!!!
I think swine flu serves as a good reminder that we should be a bit more careful with things like hand washing and spreading normal colds/flus etc. SO thats all good.
