I am thinking about starting a marketing degree but not exactly sure where to start and what i can do etc

I definetly need something to keep my busy and take my mind off TTC and also some sort of goal in my life. I have been interested in doing a marketing degree for some time now but life has been way to hectic with moving back from Aussie a year ago.

I feel i am probably in the best place at the moment to study, but dont know how many papers i will need to do a year to qualify for a student loan etc..........I will need to do a home based study as i will need to continue working full time.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?? Is open polytechnic the only way i can do these papers? How hard is it to study at home?

It depends entirely on how disciplined you are at sticking to a study plan, I for one suck at it

You can do a marketing degree through Massey, you are close for the contact courses to either PN or Welly. Or you can do it through Open Poly if they do extramural courses.

I think you need to do 3 papers per semester to be concidered fulltime?

Have you checked out both of the places websites?

Yep, Massey offers the business degree online/extramural. It takes a lot of dedication to study extramurally though - make sure you are enrolling because you want the degree, not because you want something to distract you, if you know what I mean?
Also check out the studylink website for information on their requirements

I am enrolled with Massey extramural doing a BAcc, but that may be changing and I will be going full time with AUT next year quitting work and studying either Nursing or Midwifery. big changes ahead.

Good luck, I would recommend Massey over other at home studies.

I'm extramural with Massey to, doing a BSpEx. I recommend them to a degree (no pun intended). Their reputation is a cut above, but some of the paper co-coordinators can be a little slack at getting info out on time. Go with Massey by all means, but don't be afraid to ask for help/email tutors etc etc

I'm currently doing midwifery and while its not completely extramural most of it is at home study. I thought I would be terrible at it but its working really well you just have to make sure you think of study at home the same as study at Uni. By that I mean don't spend half the day cleaning the house cos if you weren't there you wouldn't be doing that.

Good luck

I have studied through both Open Polytechnic and Massey University Extramural and found both good. Massey has more courses but there block courses can be difficult to attend.

One paper per semester is about 12.5 hours a week study which is a lot to fit in if you are working full time and already have a couple of kids.

You have to be really disciplined with your time but I did it.
