    Posted: 08 May 2007 at 3:26pm
Is it hard to change sleeping routines? Lucy (17 mths) has a sleep between 10ish - 11.30ish, all depends on when she goes to sleep, this is all that she has all day, no afternoon sleeps. Anyway, there are a few platgroups that I am wanting to go to with her and they start about 10.30am, at her sleeping time. How do I change her sleeping patterns? Is it hard? Any suggestions!!

Try taking her along and just stretching her out, make sure she gets a sandwich or something "good" at morning tea time because she'll probably conk out on the way home.

Hannah was having an 11am sleep each day at 20mos when I enrolled her at a playcentre. We went once a week and stretched her sleep for that day (she'd always crash as soon as we got home, no time for lunch) but all the other days she went to bed at 11am still.

I totally understand! I think I'm pretty fortunate that Hannah still has a day sleep (about 1 1/2 hours at midday), Briona still has two.... keep on having babies while they still day-sleep, I say!

You are lucky, Ben is nearly one and keeps pushing his morning sleep to 1pm today, he was happy as though so thats ok!, yesterday he was grizling at 10am though and needed a sleep, so everyday is different!!

Playgroups alwasy start at funny sleep times aye!!,

I'd say just give it a go, I take Ben to different playgroups and if he gets cranky we just go, I have friends who keep there bubbas at home as they must sleep between 9 and 11 in their cots etc but I think thats kind of sad as they are missing out and he loves his music group etc and just crashes in the car/pram on the way home or a has a sleep in the arvo. Relax on the routines I say

Have fun at playgroup, Lucy will have a huge sleep after them I'm sure !!

I am not a morning person and neither is Jack so I always found it very hard to get to morning groups. You might not be comfortable with this but sometimes I would just take Jack and he would fall asleep in the car and I would leave him to sleep on there. He would only sleep for about 30 mins in the car tho.

I'm really lucky tho cos he still has 2 day sleeps so if he misses the morning one he is quite happy to have a big afternoon one.
