Topic: Feeling Old Posted: 01 December 2007 at 12:52pm |
|
Yesterday was my 19th birthday so I went shopping with my friend and then we went out for tea and to go clubbing afterwards. Arabella stayed with her grandparents and 2 bottles of expressed milk.
Anyway. .
Went shopping to all the places I used to shop at pre-pregnancy and I was shocked at the clothes. Everything has changed so much and IMHO not for the better. I even made comments my grandmother used to make to me like "Is there a material shortage happening (because half your skirts missing)" etc.
And when clubbing I was ready to go home at like 10 and was missing Arabella like crazy, my friend was bouncing round chatting to guys, and getting drunk and I was dragging my feet, nearly falling asleep and wondering why I ever used to do this. . .
Well time for my nana nap hehe

It's nothing to do with age, its because your a mum.
I know 40 year-olds who still think its cool to wear skimpy clothes and go clubbing until 3am.
I gave that up after running into my friends children at the pub, and they were legally entitled to be there.

Excuse me.....I'm 28 and don't feel old!! Age is just a number to me personally (I will be forever 25 - that was my prime!!). I think its more about your priorities change...having a baby really puts things in perspective, and to be honest, getting p^%$ed and chatting up men is not on my list of fun things to do!

I'm not even admitting how old I am after that post!!! And I would so be up for a night of clubbing in something sexy if 1. I could get a baby sitter and 2. I could wear something sexy. (must get back on my diet!!).
I did pike on our Christmas party tonight though....bugger.

19 old??? ummmm Nope sure thats still young
BUt I do agree that your priorties change and what use to be so cool to do is nothing compare to spending time with your baby - they sure know how to put your life in perspective.
I still go out clubbing - maybe not every weekend but I enjoy it and I am over 30- though my mind and body still have me at 25 LOL...
You are only as old as you feel - Some days I feel really young and other days I feel like an 80 year old LOL...

I know the feeling BOB I went on a bus trip last night and while it was fun I would have way preferred to stay at home with my babies.

Hahahaha 19 cant be old esp when I can say that *ahem* I am twice your age and dont feel old *ahem*
I went out while in Aust for my girlfriends 40th and got home bout 3am, was getting a bit tired by then, but I was also 10ish wks preg at the time and had to get up to a bouncy almost 2yr old the next day.
Arabella is only 2mths old ..... no wonder you are needing a nanna nap, I still take advantage of them when I can
Responsibility is a funny thing, makes us change in ways we never thought we would.

Oh now that's just FUNNY! I love it!
I'm loving that more of our friends are having babies now, so parties are becoming more family-friendly... yeeah! Ah but that's funny you feel old at 19!! It must be parenthood that does it to us. We're all too friggin run off our feet to feel young anymore!
FYI - not that I am young these days! ha ha.

OMG I'm twice your age too!!!
Maybe you will always look at the skimpy clothes like that now you are a mummy but believe me the clubing etc will probably come back once baby is older.
The first time I went out after having Tasha I had two bourbons and went home at 9pm but it all came back again.
I used too love going out with my girl(woman) friends and leaving DH at home with the girls once they were a little older. You kind of start feeling like a person in your own right again.
Now I'm back at that mummy stage again couldn't even imaging going out at the moment. I'm hoping it will come back again, I'm not ready to be a Nana yet even at 38.

You will be one yummy young mummy at your daughter's 21st.
I just turned 28, but my record is stuck on 18....
Its one of the things I love about being a mum though - you can see through all that crap in the shops for what it really is.

I was almost the same age and felt EXACTLY the same way when I went out for the first time after having Hannah. I wanted to wave a big sign around that said "I'm a MUM! Not just a girl at a club!!!"

ohhh i know how you feel.
the first time i went out after having tash( like a year ago lol)i was sober driver and the night seemed to drag on for ages, and it took me a couple of days to get over it.
but it didnt take me long to get back into the swing of things and i quickly caught up with my friends lol
but now being preggy again i am soo drained of all my energy.....a mate went out for her 21st a couple of weeks ago and asked if i wanted to come out, they were kicking off at 1030pm and i had to turn her down cos i wouldnt have lasted a hour!!!
as for the clothes, well you pay more for less now days!!! i would never be brave enough to wear something sooo short out in public......i mean half those skirts wouldnt cover my bum!
