As you are rhesus -ve you'll also have a bt for antibodies. So far I've had them at the beginning and at 28 weeks and will have another bt at 36 weeks. They don't automatically give anit-d anymore.
The main rules I've worked to with regards to foods.
Have been making sure what I eat is hot and cooked, avoiding anything with raw egg, undercooked meat, cold meats and anything that is left sitting around luke warm. Ie: chinese takeaways, indian etc. The main culprits for listeria and salmonella are dairy products and eggs. I was pretty vigilant during 1st tri too as I was paranoid of harming my baby in anyway. Its only 9 months which isn't all that long in the general scheme of things.

Looks like you've got a good rundown on foods.
Regarding the morning sickness, sometimes nothing you do will help - if you're one of the unlucky ones please talk to your midwife. They can prescribe medication which can help - it literally saved my sanity and a trip to the hospital

hot food, be wary about leftovers. I am always wary about chicken and I also wont eat anywhere where I dont trust the cooking. I admit to having cold roast beef from a bakery that I trust so it is all about weighing up the risk. The risk of getting listeria or salmonella is small but it is definitely worth keeping the risk as low as possible and at a level that you are comfortable with. I did find it really hard to find foods that I could eat when I was out. McD's is fine as it is cooked fresh. I occasionally eat cabinet food from places that I trust but ask them to heat it hot hot.
for morning sickness eating all the time and drinking lots can help keep it at bay but nothing is guaranteed unfortunately.

Just wanted to say yay and congrats heaf3!!!
everyone has pretty much got you coveredon the food side of things, make sure everything is fresh, and pipping hot, and no deli food from the supermarket because you dont know how long its been sitting there for, and no sushi unless you made it yourself (its because of the rice more rather than the meat in it)
Also you dont have to go to the doc but i did and the dr told me that its free to go for the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy (that was at central family health)
Hope that helps
Good luck with the midwife and shell give you a pregnancy pack thing thatll have all the info in it. (i got mine from the dr
Also if you do get fell a lil ill in during the day try taking your folic and/ or multivit at nite before bed rather than the morn
And congrats again

yeah Im still not sure on hummus...it is on the NZFSA no go list as tahini can harbour listeria... I found a very similar product that has saved me as I ate A LOT of hummus before...
Turkish Kitchen Kumara and Lentil dip...it uses red lentils instead of chickpeas and tahini so is okay to have!!! I eat a tub a week easy.
as for MS, dont think you can prevent it if you are going to get it...I second having protein with each snack/meal...I had it pretty bad (had lingering cough and chest infection to make it worse) and lived on mandarins and round biscuits with marg and cheese until dinner each day for about a month!!

Hey Heaf, I was just like you at the start of my pregnancy.
With regards to the doctor, I went to the GP to have my pregnancy confirmed and had a blood tests and did another pee test. It was nice to do that just to be sure, and also you might not find a midwife straight away so it could be nice just to go and get the tests and also the GP can give you the form for an early scan if you want it. That's what I did. I got a scan at 6 weeks but didnt see my specialist till 8 weeks, so I wouldn't have had that if I didn't go to the doctor. But as others said, it's not necessary.
With regards to the food I was also very wound up in it at first. But basically what you need to do is eat things that are meant to be hot hot, and cold things cold. You can eat leftovers if they are heated up really hot, but I wouldn't do it all the time and only if they were refrigerated the whole time before.
I have eaten takeaways a lot in my pregnancy my specialist said takeaways like BK, MCD's are fine. Ive had chinese, pizza etc too and as long as you tell them to please make it fresh and hot you should be ok.
It all depends how far you want to get into it. I basically eat most things just not seafood or deli meats or soft cheeses or things sitting out a long time at suspect temperatures. I am also careful about dressings. But most other stuff I would normally eat I have eaten. It really is so much to do with temperatures more than anything else I think.
There is a food safety pamphlet you can get from the nz food safety authority it is a good help.
Re morning sickness, you can't stop it but if you do get it, there are ways to help like barley sugars, having something by your bed and eating before you get up, sea bands, dry biscuits and toast, lemonade and just keeping yourself full all help. You just kind of manage it as you go along. I was lucky enough to only have it for 3 or so weeks, and I never vomited only felt car sick, so you could be lucky like me you never know.
Pregnancy is scary and stressful but it's also wonderful so enjoy the ride and trust you'll learn everything you need to know along the way especially with all the helpful ladies on here. I found going to the GP in the early stages was great too cos they could reassure me of a few early concerns I had.
All the best :)

Oh yeah and GP visits are free in the first 12 weeks so you may as well go and get your bloods done etc
