What about looking at ESOl tutoring - this starts younger and is pretty good money. Not sure exactly how to get into it, but a friend tutors 2 Korean kiddies from her old school - maybe advertise in the school newsletter?

OK I was told that by a person at SL so long as you are studying fulltime (to SL by EFT's) and you have "dependants" you should be able to get an allowance It was only $70 I was getting on the allowance but still $70 is better than nothing. Also the budget that came out yesterday had some more stuff in it about helping people to get allowances.

I'm not getting it next semester as I don't want it to impact on our family assistance (or whatever they call it now) payments as we get quite a bit from them but it's something I might look at getting next year.

i hate student loans all my recent dealings with them have been bad bad bad.

however a student allowance doesnt affect your working for families stuff, its only your earnings ( from work 20hrs if your a solo parent or 30hrs between you if your a coupple)
found that out the other day when we got told were not entitled to anything from working for families grrr so im definatly keen for the working from home thing.
