If you have a C sect for the first day or so they will genreally use one of those bed liners as undies. Another option is putting a newborn nappy under the pad for more protection.

I agree with those packs of 7 they are the best. In saying that my wonderful Mum came up to the hospital daily and took all my bloody things home to wash so nothing got ruined anyway.

This will be my third csection, first one i bounced back real quick, and second not so quick(the 9 year gap didnt help) and got an infection which was quite gross.....hopefully this one isnt worse again, but this one i plan on swimming at least twice a week until i have the baby to keep up my fitness levels........I love the fact that i get a catheter so after peeing so much in those last few months its nice not to have to get up to pee........LOL

The ultimate end to my dignity was when they Dr was stitching me up as I had torn most of my perenium and she had to put her finger into my back passage to check she hadn't stitched it shut

She asked permission first and told me what she was doing, I was high on adrenelan as my baby was born and she was so beautiful and I said "Sure, you can shove your finger up my butt!"

She looked at me horrified, I grinned and said "I guess you liked it better when I was in labour and quiet huh?" She just nodded and laughed and went about her business

Well I can't speak for emergency C's but for electives they put it in just after you get the spinal block (so in the theatre) and you get it out about 12- 18 hours later because then you have to get up to pee so that makes sure you're up and mobile.

And don't freak out too much - any birth pretty much guarantees your loss of dignity in one way or another but you just don't care anymore.

Plus you can get some wicked drugs (which probably helps with the above)

I'm freaked out by the whole catheter thing (nothing should go up in that hole!!!!!) - that was one of the reasons I cried all the way to theatre for my emergency c section ..... I talked about the catheter through the whole op (I could apparently feel them "mucking around" with it!). Jake was delivered at 10.45pm, and I had it out about 7am (as soon as the midwives were in my room and it was light!) and the morphine pump etc, so I could get up and move.

I don't remember having no undies after the c section?!? Must have blocked it out (or still been drugged up!)
