Paws, how have you found the powder, does it get "the dirt" out, the girls are outside in the garden heaps, tho I try to keep them away from too much grease in the garage, also any reaction on skin?

We don't use wipes at all unless we are out and stuck without flannels.. we get the little soft stretchy ones from t&t and the nice soft cheapies baby flannels from warehouse. and use those.

For me with the maternity pads.. I found i went down to supers after maybe 2 weeks, but always get very heavy AF anyway, so kinda expected it.. did not expect to have to keep buying more for close to 7 weeks!.. so bought more 2nd time around, didn't use them quite as long but still found them handy for once Af came back. With both girls that was around 5 months.. anyway now you can get the superthin libra maternity ones and i liked them.

Breast pads.. would sometimes go through a pair in one feed and one in between if the girls slept too long cos i'd let down or leak and couldn't stop it. but ok if they woke frequently and i didn't overfill - usually about a box a week under usual cirumstances.. i used them till weaning at 6 months with Paris.. although by then it was mainly at feed times. Ayja i think it used them up till she stopped feeding during the day and only fed at night... maybe about 12 months. Some people need heaps others don't.. I can remember some others talking about how they'd wrap towels around themselves at night to stop the leakage. Johnsons ones are better than treasures.. treasures are more discreet, but johnsons hold much more and i didn't have trouble with leakage or sticking to you like the treasures ones did. Pidgeon ones are ok..nice that they have things to stick to the inside of your bra.. except your boobs don't always stay put and the pads won't move with them, they stick with the bra instead. i guess each to their own.

kez - I use Ecostore powder too, after the recommendation from Paws actually, and have found it to be fantastic, and I am using so much less for the same (if not "bigger") job ! It gets all the dirt out, the food stains, the spew stains AND the poop, and have had no issues with sensitivity to Erin's skin either.

Thanks Jax, off hand roughly a price comparison? Is it similar?

If you directly compare the prices, the Ecostore stuff will seem more expensive, but it lasts longer, so you are getting more use out of it for the *little* tiny bit more that you spend on it.

Looks like Jax answered my question! I also posted something under the Ecostore question in the reviews section.

Washable breast pads are rubbish they leak so quickly I only ever used the johnsons cheap ones and they held heaps I used them for 6 months I went through heaps at the start. With the sanitary pads you can always use them later.

I love the 'loving touch' breast pads (hmmmm... kinda dodgy name really).  Countdown sells them and they're a decent price and work so well.  I stocked up and was given some lotions, etc.  What I found was - I had too many newborn nappies (had about 12 packs... ended up giving away 5), there's some lotions and oils and stuff that I don't even need but have them anyway, and it was GREAT to have different brands of everything because trying them all out meant I quickly learnt which ones work for Ella and which ones don't.

I didn't like using washable breast pads either. The disposable ones are at least backed with plastic in case they get overfull - but they also seem to spread the milk better.

I used the Tommee Tippee washable breast pads and they were great.

I've heard good things about the Outrageous! ones as well....I already use the Outrageous! pads so I'll use the breast pads next time. Saving money is also a good incentive to use them!
