Can anyone recommend somewhere not too expensively priced for maternity clothes? I'm in Auckland and normally a size 10 if that helps.

I know about Pumpkin Patch and Egg, but are there any other well-kept secrets out there?

I don't believe that Pumpkin Patch and especially Egg are reasonably priced.

So far all I have done is gone to shops like glassons and the warehouse and brought clothes with a nice big stretchy waistband and in the next size up from what I am normally.

I personally just don't see the point in spending the kind of money they want in Pumpkin Patch etc for maternity wear when I don't even spend that much when I'm not preggers lol

HI Mikaela. I only own one proper maternity top. Everything else I have is from Shanton, Pagani etc. I find that particularly at Shanton, the tops are excellent for maternity cos they are so strechy and lovely and long. I have also bought a couple of dresses from there too - one wrap one and another one that are both really strechy and only cost me $20 each. Slap a maternity label on them and they would easily be at least 4 times that amount!!

I have shopped at Pumpkin Patch for maternity jeans and I have lived in the two pairs that I have. I think that they are good quality and a nice fit and can work for most of your pregnancy with the adjustable waistbands. I think they are about $70 full price but one of the pairs I got on sale so was only about $40. Good luck

I found that PP didn't fit very well so I have just bought glasons and supre long singlets that hide if your pants aren't done up. Maybe buy one nice pair of maternity pants. I think the warehouse and kmart may have some maternity stuff.

In Auckland you can also go to the JK outlet store in Onehunga. They have stuff on sale there all the time and are so much cheaper than the other places. I'm on my second pregnancy and still have not brought a maternity top. I got tops that my mum could just extend the sides to make them a bit roomier. KMart also has a decent maternity section and if you go there when they have a & off womans clothing you get them for a better price. I don't think you need to buy maternity tops just look for roomier tops and maybe look at a few pairs of pants. Also have a look out for a belly belt (usually get them from Baby Factory) as you can continue to wear you own pants and the belly belt just extends the waistband.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I bought some great, new capris (three-quarter pants) off TradeMe for $5 and $6. You could search the label: Great Expectations.

Mostly I just have roomier and/or longer tops. There are a lot of things you can get on TradeMe which have been worn only once and otherwise check out the JK Outlet stores... there's not one near here so I haven't seen them but I've heard their stock and prices are good.

The PP factory shop at Westgate is awesome - and I was really pleased to find that I fit stuff from them. They had normal preggy t shirts for about $12 when I was there before xmas. Skirts and the like were on sale for around $30.

Other than the odd piece and t shirts (I like the length) I will probaby go stretchy waistband too.

Im only getting maternity pants as I had trouble with pants when I was pregnant the first time, but I dont think its necesary to go out and buy maternity wear. I use long singlets I got a few for only $10 each at shanton. Otherwise I shop at the warehouse for me, I know you cna also get the belly belt thingys to attatch onto your pants to help make them still fit throughout your pregnancy I havent tried yet but have heard they are great.
