Topic: Worrying myself silly!!!!!! Posted: 12 November 2006 at 2:20pm |
I cant stop worrying about my pregnancy!!!!!! everyday i spend every hour checking my BBs to see if theyr still sore and concentrating on whether im still tired!! and how many trips to the luu iv done and iv been getting the slightest cramps which feels more like a pinched nerve, in my lower tummy and that is making me even more paranoid!!! Iv had 2 previous MCs - one was before my son and i was 14 weeks pregnant and the other was in june this year and i was 5.5 weeks pregnant.
So i was just wondering if there is anyone else out there who is paranoid like me or was when they were pregnant!! as i cant talk to my family because they all tell me im being stupid!

It can be a bit of a worrying time I had an early m/c between #2 and this one and this time around I noticed every little pinch or cramp. You're definitely not being stupid! Wanting to be pregnant so much (I'm presuming, since you've got pg twice since your son was born) just adds to the pressure/worry.
For me, it just got easier from m/w appointment to m/w appointment, with all the urines and blood pressures etc assuring me that things were fine in there.

sounds very normal to me - when i was pregnant with gabriel it wasnt till i was about 7 mths that i even let myself believe i was going to have a baby. the worrying and paranoia can drive you nuts tho. hard as it is you just have to try and believe it will be ok.

I think it's normal esp after a bad expereince. I started off OK until and was quite relaxed, until I started getting bleedings at around week 10 or so. The only reassuring thing was seeing baby on scan and hearing it's heart. Nothing anyone could say or do seemed to help - both DH and MIL tried their best. I never told my mum - she's a huge worrier and it would have only made things worse.
Hope you can find a level-headed person to talk to and of course, you can always come here and chat!
Best of luck - I hope baby hangs in there for you!

I've been real worried this time too especially reading about other people still getting symptoms after they lost it that scares me. Could you get blood tests to help reasure you? or maybe a scan? I'm having one in 3 weeks and I haven't let myself get too excited until I see it. Hopefully in about 8 months time we will be complaining about having no sleep

Amber, its completely normal, I promise. Either that or I'm crazy too.
I still check the toilet paper every single time I go to the loo, and if my bbs are less sore for any reason I completely freak out. I think it's just a sad reality for those of us who have lost babies - we never feel completely comfortable with the fact we're pregnant.
I thought seeing the baby's heartbeat would help me, and it has...very slightly. I'm still freaking. I really truly hope that by Christmas (I will be 14 weeks) I will be more comfortable with the whole thing.

OK, It has to be normal, I still check every time I go to the toilet, and while I can feel kicks now, if he hasn't kicked for awhile, I go off, skull a huge glass of cold water and then lie down and wait, usually gets him moving. I panic at everything!
It does get easier though, but I think you just keep waiting if that makes sense, I am now waiting till the po int where if I go into labour early he will survive.
See if you can get another blood test, my doctor amused my freaked out phase by sending me for them for the first 8 weeks, and also a 6 week scan. Knowing the HCG is rising is very settling.
It is easier said than done, but try and relax. Perhaps make some plans for you, pampering or a nice night out that you have to look forward to so something else to focus on.

I decided to stop after the 3rd Hcg results as my doc adviced that once you get to a certain point some ladies start to freak out because the pattern of their hcg changes and i would be one of those people!!!
I have a scan booked for the 22nd of november and i cant get it any earlier as they might not be able to see anything before then (il be 6.5 weeks) and once again il start panicking so really i cant win!! im turning into a worry wort!!!!!
Sarah Beth - i remember clearly when i was pregnant with my son - waiting for the time when if he did come early he would have a good chance of living!! i was a worryer even then as he was 2nd after my 14 week MC and i ended up in hospital at 6 weeks pregnant with him as they suspected he was ectopic causing my severe cramping which i had continuously until 12 weeks!!!! then he was a very sleepy baby! (was when he was born and still is 3 years later!!!!) and i could go for days without feeling any movement therefore spent forever in the maternity ward checking he was still ok!!!!! so yeah it was never really uneventful hense my current stress head.
I also have high blood pressure (since iv been pregnant this time..have never had it before) and my doc thinks it because of all the stress of worrying!!!!
Its great to chat with all you ladies about it though as it is kind of starting to ease my mind so thankyou all

I'm sure I posted a similar thread a few months ago! It didn't help in my case that I was pregnant again only 6 weeks after my m/c - I was totally nuts!
I checked my knickers every single time I went to the toilet until the day I gave birth. In the early weeks I was convinced I was going to lose the baby. After the 6 week scan when we saw the heartbeat (only one at that stage) I felt better for about 2 hours and then started stressing again. My doctor also humoured me with hCG levels for the first week, but after that she told me I was making myself crazy and refused to do anymore. Then Ihad spotting (seriously like two spots of brown discharge) and convinced my m/w to let me have another scan. Hello twins!
Then Sienna was a quiet one so I had to have CTG's every week, and I had fortnightly growth scans to check for Twin to Twin transfusion and spent the night before very single scan panicking about what the scan would show.
So no you are not nuts. Or at least not any more nuts than me...

What I learn't was that I worried all through the pregnancy, all through the birth and now every single day since. Different worries during different stages

I had the same as you, at about the same time (I posted about it probably about 8 weeks ago - called scared about miscarrying, I'll try and bump it) constantly checking my pants etc panicking any time I had any type of pain or feeling in my tummy. My doctor actually helped by explaining that when 2 different types of DNA come together in forming an embryo, sometimes (like with organ transplants) it doesn't quite work. In these cases it is so much better that your body miscarries than not, it is also a good sign that if you have managed to get pregnant (in your case had a baby before) you will more than likely do so again if it does happen.
The pains/cramps you are getting are probably also normal, your body is changing down there, it's got to stretch and move.
Unfortunately the only thing I can say (unhelpfully, I know) is be patient. I'd forget about having any HCG testing - like you said, it can make the worrying worse. And if you start to get morning sickness - that's a really good sign that everything is going well and things are embedding (I ended up in hospital with severe dehydration from the sickness and that was the first thing the emergency doctor said to me - it kinda didn't help at the time...).
And for god sake don't listen to anyone who thinks you are stupid - it makes me quite cross to read that.

Hi ladies ,
Well last night i had a manic episode! where i sat awake till an ungodly hour!! worrying myself sick!!! because my boobs wernt as sore and i hadnt gone to the luu as often!! and my cervix felt low!!! (is it meant to be high or low at this stage???? 5.5 weeks). But then i came home and spoke to my SIL who has had 3 kids and she said that all my symptoms are normal which really put my mind at ease!
I have had yucky morning sickness at night times every night for the past week! its just a blah! nausious feeling! that starts about 7-9pm and goes away like it has never even been there!! at about midnight!.
Anyway yeah so thats the stats for today!

At 5 1/2 weeks most people don't have any symptoms at all, so try not to stress (easier said than done I know!) I remember how paranoid I was, I spent half the day poking my boobs to see if they still hurt!

Baysmum sounds like you need a top-up snack around 8pm or so to help keep the m/s at bay.
