right i posted and it disappeared:( as i said they dont treat for strep b till bubs is born..none of the docs or mw have mentioned it being a problem till he's born....why wouldnt they mention it if they were worried?
I have ureaplasmic cells which could cause prem labour.they are fine normally but can cause prem labour when pregnant....the doc yesterday and the mw still said strep b fine until labour yesterday? and all of the people i know with it delivered after their due dates? I'm confused? but it was the cause of your prem labour? for the strep i get antibiotics at start of labour and then during birth... I'll om you this anyway:)

Wow Travelgirl, I can't believe your girls are 5 months already!
Kawww, my sister had her twins at 35weeks and they didn't even need to go to NNU so hopefully your little one will be fine aswell
There was no reason found for me delivering early either. Which does make it extremely scary thinking about having another child. At least when a reason is found, they can try and do something to prevent it next time. I couldn't even imagine having a baby in NNU and having another child to worry about aswell

KH25 its horrible! My sister had a 3yr old, 18mth old and then baby born 27weeks so had a horrible time. Plus to top it off they didnt have any room for her, well him in the NICU and so she was in hospital here on strict bedrest from 25 weeks then when she went into labour and they couldnt stop it they had to fly her down to dunedin! Times like that you realise how important family is thats for sure. I spent heaps of time up at the hospital with him cos i know how horrible it is having to leave your baby there, its just not right leaving the hospital with no baby. Was soooo strange when I had addison and she never left my side where as with Kobe I didnt get to be with him properly till he came home.

Yeah it was very tough having another one aswell as the one in NICU, Bailey was 15months when Aidan arrived and it was very stressful
Next time around I have to get a scan done between 12 and 14 weeks to decide if they have to put a stitch in, even if they don't Ill be having bloods and scans done every 2-4 weeks

update on me:
What happened: went in and she went through results..all fine...perfect except platelets down...so that's good...bp 124/90 which apparently is fine...awesome..no protein in urine...awesome....swelling up to tummy though:( will be having bloods twice weekly and 2x weekly mw appointments....she checked bubs heartbeat adn said ' oh he's doing great' I said why do you say it like that like you expect somethign to be wrong adn she said oh no he;s doing great but (after talkin gto me about movements making sure of 10 a day) she said sometimes things can happen and told me a story about a baby dying:( ugh!!!!)i know she was just pointing out about movement but it scared the crap outta me!
anyway she said at the moment i am fine besides the swelling but still have to go to hospital appointments.. at least the first one..prob twice weekly as well...BUT baby is growing well and measuring fine..so no scan:) I mean that's good but i wanted a scan:) !!!
so swelling can be normal by itself?but because its excessive they are worried?

kawwww, i was told that StrepB is the no.1 cause of prems?!? That is why i had to have a swab done while in labour to check for Strep infection (none found). Sounds like you are getting really good monitoring though so that's all good. Best of luck for your last four weeks, lets hope Ethan stays put for at least a couple more!
Tastic, it's great that you would receive so much monitoring next time around! Because there was no reason for our early arrival and we technically had a 'normal' pregnancy and labour i won't get any special or extra monitoring . Hopefully our premmie was a oncer, if i'm like a lot of other women in my family my first will be my only prem (found out that 3 first cousins, grandmother and great-grandmother all had premmies for their first)! Hopefully it just runs in the family.

yep StrepB and Ureaplasma are the main causes but not the reason all the time,
My midwife said unfortunatly they cant swab pregnant women every appointment as it can do more harm then good, and in my case she wishes she had, but ohh well, Aidan is here now and semi healthy

babyg...intersting...not one doc or mw has woreied aobut it at all.. noone has mentioned prem labour at all..except aobut the ureaplasmic cells..now they def. have been mentioned ten times:) theres a few people on here who had them though adn there babies came 1 week early.. its all so bizarre that the info given is different everywhere:( Ive had strep b since at least first swabs(28 weeks) adn no treatment
babyg- hope it was just a once off!!:( I'd insist on extra monitoring anyway..
tastic..how come they cant swab too often? I've had three sets and she wasnt worried..see what i mean:( if it could cause problems she should give me the option to do it or not..i had some at 28 and 32 and 34 weeks.. :( oh well.. maybe she thought the risk was better than the prem labour risk? gotta go...next appointment and bloods...then will see you at the meetup Tastic..
