Not to sure on how long after does the baby come- but they shouldnt let it go for more than 24 hours as theres complications etc. The hospital should be keeping a close eye on her.

My waters broke at 7am, and contractions didn't start until around noon, then didn't become regular until around 2pm. I had to go into hospital because of the risk of infection to get some antibiotics, and Stevie is right - they don't normally leave it for more than 24 hours.

My contractions started at 12:30pm, and my waters broke at 2:20am the following morning... Josiah was born at 6:58am that day.

They can keep you through to term so long as bubs is okay and there are no infections. They tend to treat with antibiotics after 24 hours and you get to stay in hospital for the duration though...

They dont normally let you go for longer than 24 hours due to the high risk of infection.

How long is a piece of string...
My Mum's waters broke at 27 weeks with my youngest brother and they kept her in hospital till 37 weeks giving her ventolin to stop labour and antibiotics to prevent infection and he was delivered by c-sect healthy as.

From what I know, the usually only induce within the 24 hours if you are at term. So like the others said, if she has 4 weeks to go, they'll probably leave it until 38 weeks before they induce (unless she goes into labour naturally.)

As long as there is no infection they will let you go to term or whenever you go naturally but apparently you often go earlier anyway like i did. in saying that I was already 3cm dilated when they discovered my waters had broken.

I think it also depends on if it seals itself or contiues to leak - if there is plenty of fliud and it isn't leaking they might just monitor her.
Everyone is different as well and alot of midwives/ob-gyns work differently as well so each person will have different experiences.
With Paris my waters broke 5am, contractions started 6am, fully dilated 9.15am born 11.07am, 38.5 weeks,
With Ayja, contractions started 1am, waters broken for me at 4.15am (7cm) fully dilated 4.25am, Born 4.35am, just under 38 weeks.
