I'm going to be wearing black when I'm bridesmaid next year. And another close friend had black. Both are outdoor weddings and in this day and age, is totally accepted

Ohanlon82 - did you get married at Belsaas?

Oh, and I asked them to wear silver shoes and silver jewellery.

What a lovely idea! They (and you!) look stunning.

We did a similar but opposite idea. My three bridesmaids had very different colouring, and we couldn't find one colour which looked good on them all. So I chose one fabric and one dress design, and they all had a different colour (teal, purple-y blue and light blue). I loved the effect - it made it look a bit less formal (and less 'quadrupley' lol) and they were all happy too.

We got the dresses made - I would do it again, but would say to be careful about who you get to do them! My dressmaker made some mistakes that caused me a few moments, but she fixed it all up in the end.

I thought you liked the burgundy, how come you have gone off
them, if you had black you would have to have white like ohanlon because I think all black with no white in the reserve would look like a funeral
I think the burgundy would suit Murvale reserve better

I think black is totally fine these days for BM dresses. A black dress does not go out of fashion (usually).

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I think black bridesmaid dresses look really classy.   We went to a wedding in Australia and they had black and white jelly beans on the tables and the black looked great against the cream of the bride. HUGE options for flower colours as well.

I had brown bridesmaids... one was about a size 6 and one was about 6 months pregnant. I brought the fabric and they got them made. One paid $200 and the other paid $60.... Moral of the story.... money to be saved by shopping around.

I had my dress made and DH's aunt made my bridesmaids dresses. It worked out pretty cheap in the end. I sold my dress after the wedding and got some cash back. It is not like I was going to wear it again. My friend hired a dress which worked out cheaper.

I like black dresses - they look classy, and I'm sure there's much more chance that they'll be worn again in the future.
