It's quite funny as my Dad is a farmer, but when I was born he walked in & fainted and the doctors/nurses went rushing over to see if he was alright as he knocked his head on the wall.. Then when my sister was being born, he walked in and then straight out again..

I'm a fainter too, I'm hopeless with blood and needles. I've never even had a blood test I'll just need to be brave for when the time comes as we are going to start trying for a family at the end of the year.

hmmm I dont think my hubby was worried about seeing me in pain, he was more worried about how I would break his hand again and yell at him which I did not do! (almost bit him though but stopped myself in time)

Atish hated the fact that I was in so much pain...he was like "take the epi...take it" and I was 5 hours into labour...

I did finally take it after 36 hours but he kept telling me...take it babe take it...I cant see you like this!!!

He said he would cut the cord (I had a c section so he didnt) but I think when the time came, he would have told the doc/midwife to cut it!

When we were expecting Ella, my little brother told Hubby "whatever you do, don't cut the cord!". He said it was the grossest thing he's ever done, like cutting through a finger. Needless to say that put him right off and he wouldn't do it.
Someone else told him "whatever you do don't look at the placenta!" According to him it looked like a rotten meat pack.
Aren't boys great?!
Seriously though, as long as he's there to support me and see our child come into the world, I don't really care where he's looking

My hubby reckons he might faint and so thats why my mum is coming into the birth with us. Shes been there for the other two and since hubby doesn't want to cut the cord in case he faints my mum is going to - just like she did for my other two.

Willie wouldn't be at Maya's birth - maybe deep down he was scared he might faint or something too, and he is a big tough looking truckie lol. He will be at the gremlins birth tho, like it or not!

Nick cut Andrew's cord and will probably do the same this time around. He was also first in line looking over the midwife's shoulders to check out the placenta. I think his time on the farm as a youngun' hit in. So, no fainting from my support person, just lots of toilet stops.

Lewis didn't want to cut the cord, but then when Jake was born m,y midwife just handed him the scissors and he did it...then bragged to everyone! When i was pregnant with Taine, my midwife asked about any changes I wanted from Jake's birth and Lewis said "I'm cutting the cord" really quickly. He was really excited

as for the placenta. With Jake it came out and he was "woah, chekc that out Liz." meanwhile I'm bleeding on the table, midwife is stictching and, later i find out, talking about the need for a possible transfusion. And Lewis is now trying to bring it over to me to have a closer look and poke. Gross.
then
"doesn't it look like a slab of beef" very helpful. Could've been worse I guess. At one point my grandmother and father were talking about the all blacks selection. I'm lying there thinking "hello? giving birth here!!"
