Andie, you don't need a breast pump, you can just hand express - which is ok providing you have a good milk flow, can get a bit sore when you are trying to get the milk coming and there isn't much there!

The Avent Isis IQ one is electronic but comes with the thing to convert it to a manual one. I haven't used mine heaps - mainly if I want to go out somewhere & someone else looks after Matt, but I'm planning on using it more once I start back at work. It's definitely handy but I wouldn't say it was essential if you were breastfeeding.

Medula mini electric is great and any old bottle seems to fit on it.
I don't think you are supposed to start expessing until your milk supply has settled so you don't end up with a hungry baby or full boobs. I honestly found expressing such a hassle and it took me ages to get 20mls i have only ever really needed the milk once when i went out and i drank.
